Not all Gold Star families are upset with President Donald Trump.
Trump was buffeted this week by growing controversy over his conversation with the widow of an American soldier killed in Niger, after a Democratic congresswoman said that Trump told the widow her late husband “knew what he signed up for.” Trump denied that, though the mother of the soldier confirmed the account of the lawmaker.
But the father of another one of the four American soldiers killed in Niger said Wednesday that Trump was respectful when he called with his condolences. Arnold Wright, the father of the late Staff Sgt. Dustin Wright, said he and Trump spoke for about 20 minutes, and that Trump mostly listened.
“He talked to me about the loss of my son and how he served with honor and dignity and he just wanted to give me a call to thank me,” Arnold Wright told TIME in a phone interview. “I told him the kind of man Dustin was. We talked about his deployment. … We got troops out there with no air cover. There are still teams in the country. That was the main point that was the conversation.”
Arnold Wright said he had no qualms about the fact that Trump’s phone call came nearly two weeks after his son’s death was announced....

Trump could have just been like Obama and not even called.
What exactly is wrong with saying the truth? Anyone who has taken the oath knows they are signing up for the whole deal up to and including giving their life in the service for their country.

I like the quote from the Patton movie with George C. Scott. “our job is not to die for our country, our job is to get the other sonofabitch to die for his”.
You and I both know that there are people who join who have no intention of actually being in combat. Those aren’t the ones who join the seals, rangers, marine recon, and I do not believe that the Military sends such soldiers to be in small units as armed advisors. So it’s a given as far as I’m concerned that those who were recently killed in Niger represent the best of our Military — physically and mentally.
The other three were whites, so the MSM will claim Trump was only disrespectful because of the race of the Johnsons, which, of course, makes no sense at all. If he’s such a racist, why would he bother to call her?

In fact, we do not even know if *one* Gold Star family is upset with President Trump.
All we know is that a Trump hating congresswoman is using a statement, out of context, to attack Trump. The Gold Star mother in the phone conversation with Trump has affirmed that the out of context statement happened. I haven’t seen any quotes from her saying that she is upset with the President.
