The GOPe’s Next Act: Pretending To Want Tax Reform
DB Daily Update ^ | 9.28.2017 | David Blackmon

It’s going to be a long fall and winter filled with hyper-partisan rancor. There is nothing progressives hate more than a healthy, growing economy. I’m not kidding. If you think otherwise, you don’t understand progressives.

There can be no doubt the GOP proposal would indeed stimulate economic growth in a very big way. The key stimulus-producing provision is one that would allow businesses of all kinds to deduct most capital costs during the tax year in which they are incurred. Currently, such costs must be recovered by depreciating them over 5 to 30 years, depending on the asset that is being depreciated.

President Trump has often talked about wanting to pass his own economic stimulus package. Well, there is really no need for a separate stimulus bill if congress were to pass this one. The ability to deduct capital costs would be a stimulus plan in and of itself, and unlike the Obama stimulus, which was basically wasted on expanding government employment and wasteful programs, it would stimulate real infrastructure expansion, and create millions of real, private sector jobs.

So of course the Democrats hate it. They hate anything that would grow the private sector, especially at a time when the government sector is being systematically reduced by a Republican administration.

But the dirty little secret is that the establishment Republicans really don’t want to pass this bill, either, which is why they’ve waited so late to introduce it. The positive side is that the President does want it, and he won’t be shy about publicly pounding on Democrats and Republicans who work to kill it.

A lot of truth in the article.

The republicans let the McCains and Snows take the hit for not supporting tax reform, but the reality is many don’t want it to happen.

People THINK they are getting a tax cut. There will be no net gain when we still have Ovomitcare taxes and the price of insurance continues to go through the roof. The price of everything is going up. Hidden taxes will go up to offset their “TAX CUT” These crap weasels act like they are doing us a favor, when in fact it is them that created this mess. How many of the 70,000 pages of the tax code will be removed? My guess, not enough to save a sapling. Oh, but we will be able to fill out our taxes on a post card! Does ANYBODY really believe that shit? Most people use the short form now! So don’t try to make us “feel” good by holding another carrot in front of us. BASTARDS!

It’s nothing but a ruse.

Tax reform, I spoke the words, as if a wedding vow,
Ah but I was so much older then, I’m younger than that now.

Talking about tax reform/income tax brackets without talking about import tariff rates is BS. The two go together.

We live in an era of nil US import tariffs and sky high income taxes. This tell you who is running this country and the world.

Less income taxes and higher tariffs. That is the ticket to prosperity FOR ALL.

And I love this "we lowered the rate and removed the deductions which "pays" for the tax cut. So the end result is they still take the same amount of your money.

As written it significantly increases my net tax burden.

I oppose it.

Hasn't it always been this way? The first year of the Reagan Tax cuts was the first year I ever had to write a check to the IRS. There was a small cut in my bracket but we lost all interest deductions except for our mortgage. I couldn't deduct charge card, credit card or car loan interest anymore. With Bush's tax cut I became subject to the Marriage Penalty...again I paid more.

I'm still a big supporter of Reagan's cuts because they lit the economy on fire.

Oh -of course- they want tax reform. They want to pass everything the bankers and globalists lobby wants in exchange for campaign cash.
The middle class will get almost nothing. Then they’ll tell us how awesome the plan is because in 5 years you’ll get a 1.2% pay raise when their masters wealth has increased.

And they will call it “Tax reform”.

They see legislators around the world running for their very lives out the back doors of Capitol buildings...and it never crosses their mind that it could be them one day.
Ill laugh at them when i see it on TV.

Thank goodness there is some "original" material.

Otherwise, the readers would have to rely on the Control-LEFT media outlets.

Take a knee, Paul. Take a knee, Mitch. The progressive agenda is waiting to be serviced.

The GOPe and the NFL are the same to me: dead, bloated and stinking up the place while waiting to be buried.

Where do you think this blogpimp got the material from?

He read some stuff (that you also read) and then "wrote" about what he saw.

His opinion is no better than yours on the matter but he feels he should be
paid for his, using Free Republic as a free advertising platform.

I hope he gets a boil on his ass.
