Cohn was under intense pressure from his Wall Street friends to resign from the administration. He should have done the President and the country a big favor by succumbing to the pressure.
President Donald Trump is attacked on a daily basis by his enemies in the media, the political establishment, and the deep state. He is under unrelenting assault, more so than any other U.S. President in recent history.
Usually, even a besieged President can count on support within the ranks of his top advisers. While they may disagree in private, top administration officials have an obligation to present a unified front to the American people. However, when a President starts getting attacked by a member of his own administration, it is time to fire that untrustworthy individual and demand loyalty of everyone else.
If the appointee is not fired, he should have the decency to resign if he cannot publicly support the President. A principled letter outlining the reasons for his resignation is what National Economic Council Director Gary Cohn should have delivered to President Trump.

Is Gary Cohn related to Marty Cohn? (a little Spanish lingo there)
Agreed. 100%. I’ve never seen cabinet officials and advisors outwardly contradict and criticize their boss in the Oval Office like this year. Trump made some awful decisions filling these posts. Disloyalty and bad form like I’ve never seen it. These people are chosen to fulfill the president’s wishes and agenda. Period.
I doubt that even if President Trump beheaded a so-called white supremacist on the White House lawn, it would make any difference to these malcontents.
Just another swamp creature.
It all started with listening to Jivanka. Theae are the people thwy brought in.
Very nicely done!
Trump had better fire Cohn’s liberal ass and soon.
People who don't respect the President and admire what he's trying to accomplish should not be on the WH staff or keep their jobs with this administration. One can't help but suspect it would be easier to achieve if Jared and Ivanka went back to their NYC bubble.
It is troubling. He's now fired two of the three people that Maxine Waters told him needed to be fired. And coupled with his now 180° reversal on the meat grinder known as Afghanistan, I'm less than happy right now.
I find it incomprehensible when I look at the list of has left and who seems to be entrenched and not going anywhere.
I just don’t get it. These are back stabbing treasonous Rats but none of them get the boot. While good people Like Bannon and Gorka are gone. Obama’s IRS head!? are out of your f’n mind?
So what is Cohn’s opinion on Sheriff Arpaio’s pardon?
I bet we can figure it out.
“I think Gorka knew it was a waste of his talent as long as the swampers were hanging in. Can’t help folks who don’t want or can’t see they need it”.
I agree. He and Bannon can do more good and be more influential outside the Swamp.
Trump is his own White House advisor who easily rebuts any of these liberals. As we see again and again. You only have to look in last 24 hours.
Trump brought them in...he keeps them there...because he WANTS them there...its not hard.
Cohn needs to confine himself to his own narrow lane— his financial expertise and drop the politics, or else hand it in.
All I can hope for is that Trump remains the Trump he was, even before Bannon and Gorka were invited on board.
Seems the 4000 strong deployment (over time) to Afghanistan, set Gorka off.
I don’t have an opinion on that decision. We’ll see.
Meanwhile, Trump has pardoned Arpaio and is still throwing the kitchen sink at the corruptors who own this R Party.
Who else will come along and ever do that?
Actually those two resigned.
They probably liked the freewheeling open door to the Oval Office getting access anytime they wanted.
However, Kushner, Ivanka, Cohn and others are under the same restrictions getting face time with Trump. Trump’s wife is likely the only person who has unfettered access during office hours.
Trump is his own man who does not get swayed easily.
The first law of organizations: Never compromise your leadership (i.e., Don’t make the boss look bad.).
Hard to believe that Trump would bring in so many people who, at least according to media characterizations, subsequently contradict/embarrass him.
