Jesse Washington has reported that many dark skinned Americans recognize that they are not "African" Americans in spite of what some racists say.
Th e term "African-American" perpetuates the principle tenet of Southern racism: "part black, all black" under the "one drop rule".
Those who use the term are in effect segregating Americans with dark complexions from the rest of the population they may be related to. Those who use the term believe that those with dark complexions should only be able to claim their African ancestors and should forget about ancestors who came from Europe, North America or Asia even if most of a person's ancestors came from places other than Africa.

You can imagine the shock when the producers revealed his DNA ancestry and it was close to 50% European. Evidently he had something of a nervous breakdown after that, and had to come to terms with his true identity.
I have met many native Africans who came to this country for a better life. Many say African-Americans are just crazy and spoiled. Furthermore,racism by the level of blackness is widespread in Africa. The American Black is a twisted liberal socially re-engineered tool who if not by America would be in a worse off place such as Liberia. I digresses,every American city has Liberian attributes.
The problem is that some groups are allowed to add origin or ethnicity to their group identity, and to form corresponding organizations, while other groups are not.
Any monuments and eventually things like gravestones that remind people that there is a History have to be eradicated. People who know even a little history are harder to fool by Utopian schemes. It is not taught in the schools any more but there is evidence al around from city parks to Stone Mountain that history did not begin with Karl Marx.
In our own society the political Left is the most functionally racist people are the leftists who believe that one's status and future is actually determined by race and that one must accept that. Those Negros who speak standard English and apply themselves in school and then succeed in the world are castigated as race traitors and hypocrites by the liberals who insist that Negroes and some other minorities must do nothing and can do nothing to advance themselves without the caring tutelage of the white liberals. All that is Racism by the definition of the word- the belief and insistence that status is necessarily determined by race.
The Melungeon are black mixed people. They are the Montauks, the Mantinecocks, Van Guilders, the Clappers, the Shinnecocks and others in New York. Pennsylvania had the Pools; North Carolina the Lumbees, Waccamaws and Haliwas and South Carolina the Redbones, Buckheads, Yellowhammers, Creels and others. In Louisiana, which somewhat resembled a Latin American nation with its racial mixing, there were Creoles of the Cane River region and the Redbones of western Louisiana, among others.
These are all mixed race people with predominantly African genes. Abraham Lincoln was of that stock.
The Jefferson clan has accepted the offspring of Sally Hemings, a stunningly beautiful and cultured black woman in his household who he loved dearly. It is ludicrous to believe that the Creoles would be offered membership in a Black caucus. Both groups have equal claim to membership. Only the true racists demur.
All of which has nothing to do with some blogger wanting attention.
All of us want attention. Why else comment?

I have always been persuaded by the notion that we are most guilty of what we most despise in others. I try to be careful when putting someone down. They may simply be exhibiting the very behavior I most dislike in myself.
Or, to put it more picturesquely, when wading in deep water always wear a flotation device.
