Americans are increasingly willing to put U.S. boots on the ground to fight for South Korea in the event of a North Korean invasion, new poll results released Monday by the Chicago Council on Global Affairs reveal. In fact, for the first time since the organization began polling on this question in 1990, a majority of Americans — 62 percent — are ready to go to war for South Korea.....

I think it’s more like they’re ready to send someone else to go to war for South Korea.

Right. Troops already there.

Better questions:

1. Where would North Korea nuke?
2. U.S. cities on that list?
3. What’s the political fallout?

Fortunately all the big cities in the U.S. are filled with Democrats.

So it’s really a ‘no lose’ situation for Trump. Take out North Korea. Worst case scenario a few million Democrats go up in flames.

If only they would decide to invade. That would be the best scenario as we would be able to destroy their Army within several months. Yes, they have a million troops or more that would invade, but these are poorly trained and poorly equipped troops. It would be similar to the Russian Army in WWII where half of them went out to fight with weapons and the other half went behind them to pick up their rifle after the first half got killed.

What we can’t necessarily destroy are nukes flying across the Pacific at a U.S. city near you. Yes, I know about the reports of our Patriot Missile system shooting down rockets. Call me cynical, but I’m dubious about it’s performance. Does anyone really think we’d broadcast to the world that it’s failing?

I’m willing to send a few cruise missiles into North Korea, but that’s about it. It is also all it should take. This is not a muslim issue. The impact would be different when we behead this particular snake. It will mostly stay dead.

For the most part of the 20th century, the US has been at war one way or another and the 21st century offers even less hope for peace.

Russia and North Korea declare 2015 a ‘year of friendship’

“The biggest cause for concern is the growing military alliance between Russia and North Korea, with the two regimes recently announcing plans to conduct a series of joint army, navy and air force exercises this year.”

Unlike the tragedy of 1950, it seems the SOUTH Koreans are quite willing and quite ABLE to fight for their own country.
Don’t forget, they sent troops to stand by ours in Vietnam.
Look at South Korea today, They, more than most, have acquired something to stand up for.

Seoul is my favorite place to visit outside of the U.S. It’s a wonderful and dynamic city, and much safer than any city in the U.S. No crime, people are law-abiding, polite and friendly, and the city is very welcoming to international travelers. You feel like you can go anywhere with no problem. Korea has changed so much since the dark days of the 1970s when it was controlled by quasi-military governments and dictators; it is now a vibrant and educated democracy.

I am too old to fight, but I would definitely do what I could to help them, and probably would give a lot of my money to help them defend themselves if there was a war.
