Well the problem would be getting the Americans to pay for it.

Canada is building a 6 lane vehicular bridge from Windsor to Detroit, the Gordie Howe Bridge. Canada is paying for the entire project including the customs plaza on the US side and infrastructure in Detroit to hook up to existing highways.
