Al Gore’s Inconvenient Hypocrisy Part 2: Electricity Boogaloo

Stop it. Let’s just say it like it is: Al Gore attempts to further cash in with his Chicken Little doomsday palaver with another film promising spurious “science”. His original film “An Inconvenient Truth” first became the touchstone piece of media that spearheaded the global warming/climate change caucus.

However in the decade hence his Oscar-winning film has become a disproven piece of celluloid hysteria, so much so that it is rarely even mentioned any more during most climate talks. Despite this rise in the film’s risibility Gore forged ahead with this follow up effort, expanding into 180 theaters this weekend and sporting the strangely appropriate title “An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth To Power”.

The list of ways Gore’s original dire bromide became a scientific punchline are legion, and lengthy. The once legendary “hockey stick” graph linked to Gore has become a debunked sidenote. In Britain the country went from requiring the film be shown in schools to having the courts dictate there were enough inaccuracies to then have it removed. It is comical he feels he is still an authoritative source despite the fact he made many 10 year predictions in his original film that have failed to materialize.

And beyond that, Gore’s personal lifestyle has reflected an abject repudiation of all he espouses. Beyond jet-setting across the globe to denounce man’s impact on said atlas, Al’s home life is the stuff of environmental nightmares. Drew Johnson is a Senior Fellow at the National Center for Public Policy research. Eleven years ago he discovered that Gore’s home energy consumption at his palatial home in Tennessee was an energy-gobbling monstrosity that used the same amount of power as 20 average homes.

Gore initially dismissed this by claiming he diffused this rapacious power consumption by his purchase of carbon offsets. Essentially he was paying environmental indulgences to excuse his energy sins. Johnson has once again peered into things at the Gore residence, and what he found is rather stark.

In just this past year, Gore burned through enough energy to power the typical American household for more than 21 years, according to a new report by the National Center for Public Policy Research. The former vice president consumed 230,889 kilowatt hours (kWh) at his Nashville residence, which includes his home, pool and driveway entry gate electricity meters. A typical family uses an average of 10,812 kWh of electricity per year, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration.

To get a feel of Al’s guilt he did respond to this initial revelation with major renovations to his house. He installed solar panels and made sweeping changes to other details, to the tune of one quarter of a million in restorative work. It has not led to efficiency of his usage, however.

Those 33 solar panels generate about 12,000 kWh of electricity a year – way more than enough energy to power a typical American household. Gore is such an enormous energy hog, however, that his gigantic rooftop solar array produces just 5.7 percent of the electricity he uses in his home, or enough to power his home for a measly 21 days a year.

And it gets worse. •Last September alone, Gore devoured 30,993 kWh of electricity. That’s enough to power 34 average American homes for a month. Over the last 12 months, Gore used more electricity just heating his outdoor swimming pool than six typical homes use in a year.

Now if you think this is a ridiculously high usage understand something else; he has two other homes in different states as well. His monthly electric/power bill at the Tennessee location averages in the $1,800 range. This is hardly a concern to the man who has parlayed his personal wealth into the hundreds of millions of dollars stratosphere.

So as if you needed any more reason to stop listening to a former Vice President you now have all that is needed. Just understand when he lectures about the dire nature of nature and how you need to fix your lifestyle for its benefit — he doesn’t even listen to himself.

The way a liberal Climate changer explained it to me is that while Gore uses way more energy than many of us together he gets many many others to cut back their own use resulting in a net decrease in carbon energy use.

Given that he gets us to cut back and use less (sometimes involuntarily) he deserves to live a life of luxury.

CBS hyped a sneak preview of Al Gore’s new “Incovenient Truth” sequel to be broadcast during their new show “Salvation.” We watched the show and saw no trace of Al Gore’s propaganda piece. Did we miss it or was the preview scrubbed?

They had a trailer for AlGore's latest screed in front of "Dunkirk" a couple of weeks ago.

The crowd more-or-less let out a collective groan. :-)

Complete and Utter Hysteria. Looked like a lot of AlGore lecturing, intercut with video clips of natural disasters, which I'm sure that everyone knows didn't occur before AlGore started noticing them. "I predicted GW would flood NYC. Hurricane Sandy did just that. Coincidence? I don't think so." And, it went downhill from there. Specious reasoning that a child could see through.

Thanks for your capsule review. Sounds like Algore is preaching to the same choir of moonbats who loved the first one. New York City has been hit by hurricanes and severely flooded for hundreds of years with no evidence the storms are getting worse and/or more frequent. If anything, the death tolls show the effects are growing LESS severe.

...hey, hey, hey. There's no room for logic and reasoning at an AlGore movie marathon! Emotion rules the day!

Please note that I didn't see the entire movie, just a 3 minute trailer of it.

I once had a college prof tell me about the time she met Al at some work function, and found him to be the most brilliant man she'd met. "Says a lot about the people who you hang around", approximately, was my reply. I don't think that she realized that it wasn't a compliment.
