Fake News, Real News, And Winning

Couldn’t happen to a nicer guy. – Sara Carter at Circa News, one of the handful of real working journalists still active in the nation’s capital, reports that former Obama National Security Advisor Ben Rhodes has been added to the House Intelligence Committee’s growing list of suspects in the illegal unmasking investigation. Rhodes joins the mugshot lineup that already includes Obama-era luminaries like Samantha Power, John Brennan and Susan Rice. You may remember Rhodes, who is most famous for openly admitting to an interviewer that the Obama Administration and fake news media regularly coordinated narratives and messages.

My God, dude, have you no life at all? – After President Trump used the term “Paddy Wagon” in a speech to law enforcement officials last week, the fake editors at the Washington Post thought it would be a great idea to run a 700 dissertation by some guy named James Mulvaney about why this “slur” is “insulting…to Irish Americans”. Mr. Mulvaney, like almost every leftist in the United States, has no sense of humor. Fair warning to parents of college-age children with law-degree aspirations: Mulvaney is adjunct professor at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, at least if the WaPo can be believed on that point, which as we have found, is an unsafe assumption at best. The lesson here is, don’t let your kids attend John Jay College.

Let’s remember that an adjunct lecturer or instructor is simply an off the street hire to teach a class that none of the full time faculty want to deal with. Normally those are huge, introductory level classes full of annoying freshmen. An adjunct is not on the tenure track and normally is only hired on a class by class contract.

Over my career, I hired a couple hundred adjuncts to cover classes for faculty who were on sabbatical or unable to teach for medical reasons. Some were very good. Others were awful and never got rehired. If you want to become a “professor,” an adjunct position is a good place to start. When we hired new full time faculty, good adjuncts had a leg up on the competition as long as they were female or minority. White men were moved to the back of the line by edict from the administration.

Normally, new full time people are hired as assistant professors and move up the ladder to associate professor (normally with tenure) and those who have a good record of published research can reach the top level of full professor. They are not normally awarded promotion. They must request it and prove they are worthy to a departmental committee, a college committee, and finally they must be approved by the top level of management. In my case, that was the university president. The “folder” they submit to the promotion and tenure (P&T) committee consists of proof of everything they have ever done. Most P&T folders are several hundred pages at a minimum and take hundreds of hours to prepare.

The guy in question here was simply a part-timer with no academic rank.
