We touched on this a couple of weeks ago, daring to doubt the wisdom of computer visionary Steve Jobs when he said children would use the Internet in a more innocent, benevolent manner than adults.

While there are now thousands of examples of the naivete of his statement, granted in 1981 Jobs' main goal was to sell Apple products, here is one of the latest examples of Internet tools being misused and with deadly results.

Precisely. One has to LEARN empathy and civilization in general. Without such teaching one is similar to an animal: Utterly narcissistic and as thoughtful of others as is a newborn - but with significantly more power to harm others.

Yep.

Kids look for reasons to pick on other children. If they can not find an obvious reason (red hair, different skin color, freckles, handicap) they will invent one.

Every generation, Western civilization is invaded by barbarians – we call them “children.”

First off, remember that the man has been dead for several years now.

Second, Jobs wouldn’t even let his _own_ kids use connected devices, knowing how they distract from proper educational development. Highly successful parents severely limit “screen time”.

Avoid taking comments out of context, especially with the intent of impugning the speaker.
