The cannabis industry could have a notable economic impact, if the U.S. federal government stays out of the way.
Investors are always on the lookout for fast-growing industries, which means there's no surprise why marijuana stocks have been such strong performers over the past year. Far more pot stocks than not with a market cap of at least $200 million have doubled or tripled in value over the past year.
Optimistic growth figures for the industry are seemingly everywhere. Aside from the fact that a record number of Americans surveyed by Gallup and CBS News want to see cannabis legalized from both a recreational and medical perspective, the sales growth in the legal-weed industry has been phenomenal. Following 34% growth in legal weed sales in North America last year to $6.9 billion, total sales of recreational and medical marijuana are forecast to expand to $21.6 billion in North America by 2021, according to ArcView Market Research. This sustainable growth has been precisely why investors have latched on to marijuana stocks as possibly the greatest thing since sliced bread.....

Nah, I haven't smoked in years and I'm not about to start up again. Doesn't mean I can't see Attorney General Nancy Sessions' reefer madness for what it is; a net vote loser.
And Trump needs every vote he can get.
You’re cut off, dude. Most of the shops around here are local entrepreneurs. If someone spends money of beer or weed, it still stays in the economy.
It's the voters who are legalizing weed.
Well, aimhigh, a marijuana “processing facility” will take over the old dairy down the road. I never worried when the farm was a dairy, grew strawberries and clover. Not too many brake ins, holdups or shootings. Don’t think that will be the case with marijuana.
Aren’t we luck in Oregon?
Lucky.... : ^ )
The only reason people think this is a good thing is that people will “spend more money” that can be taxed. No word on the costs associated with having a bunch of people buzzed who are driving, going to work, etc. If they weren’t spending that money on marijuana, they would be spending it on something else.
Listing the economic benefits of marijuana is the broken glass fallacy of economics for our time. It says that it doesn’t matter what people spend their money on, just so long as they do.
No discussion of marijuana would be complete without mention of Ricky Gates, the poster boy for marijuana, who drove his Conrail train through three red stop signals head on into an Amtrak train in 1987, killing 16 and injuring 174. In a 1993 interview with The Baltimore Sun, Gates said the accident would have never happened if not for marijuana.
It’s Soros.
Fatal crashes involving drivers who recently used marijuana doubled in Washington after the state legalized the drug, the AAA reports. The significant increase in fatal crashes involving marijuana is alarming, said Peter Kissinger, AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety CEO, adding that Washington serves as an eye-opening case study for what other states may experience with road safety after legalizing the drug.

Well....it's the politicians making it legal, my friend!
Marijuana-laced gummy ring candies are to blame for sickening 19 people at a quinceañera party Saturday night in San Francisco, health officials said Monday.
All 19 people were hospitalized after they suffered rapid heart rate, dilated pupils, high blood pressure, dizziness, lethargy, confusion and nausea all effects of ingesting edible cannabis 13 of the patients ranged in age from 6 to 18 years old This event is a strong warning about the dangers of edibles, which can be very potent and hard to control dosage in the best circumstances, Dr. Tomas Aragon, health officer for San Francisco, said.

According to the Controlled Substances Act of 1970, Marijuana is still listed as a Schedule One entity. The same schedule as Heroin. Obviously, there is more money being made by keeping it illegal at the federal level.
As soon as it's legal everywhere, the bottom will fall out of the marijuana market. Unlike tobacco, marijuana is really easy to grow.
We don't buy weed from Mexico. Problem solved.
Meh. I ate 8 of those all at once.
It was crazy. I did some gardening, completed final assembly of a trampoline in back yard, jumped on trampoline, did some laundry, and took a quick nap.
Methinks the crux is that they were given to children aged 8 to 16. I think it is a bad idea to put cannabis in candy. Too appealing to children. They should make it bitter and nasty so that it is a chore to consume. You know, like an IPA.
And if true ruin 5 times as many lives.
I ran a list of stocks back in April:

Every human system reacts differently to poison like marijuana.
Which is worth more?
