Americans support Charlie Gard partly because his parents demonstrate the fortitude in the face of adversity that Americans have long admired in the British. Unfortunately for Charlie his doctors don't have that fortitude. The doctors prefer a white flag of surrender to a "stiff upper lip".
If Charlie's parents had been in London during WWII they would have come out of the shelters between bombing raids and taken care of business. I don't know about his doctors.
The decision by Charlie's parents to ask for American help repeats another British behavior. During the last century when "Mother England" needed help she turned to her powerful "child" the United States.
British fortitude?

if Charlie was a moslem named Mohammad or Ahmed he would have had everything he needed months ago and his parents would have had every consideration...

Charlie’s parents are demonstrating fortitude, but that is not what the British are known for. Most of their courageous subjects became citizens in the New World prior to the 17th century. The fortitude gene is in short supply among her remaining subjects, whom you may see grovelling in comments sections of reports on this story. They are in virtually unanimous agreement to back off and let the powers that be murder this baby. Where are all these valiant heroes stepping forward to defend him?

And they scoff at the idea of death panels.

All this while the royals receive regular blood transfusions from children with matching blood and gene types to keep them in tip-top shape into their old age.
So, what are the preliminary results after U.S. neurologic expert, Dr Michio Hirano, examined Charlie? I guess we’ll have to wait until Monday’s hearing to find out. This thing is dragging out like molasses in January.
Thank God Charlie has parents who care adn who are willing to fight for him.
