A Bankrupt City In A Bankrupt State Lands The Olympic Games
DB Daily Update ^ | 7.13.2017 | David Blackmon

Posted on 07/13/2017 5:34:47 AM PDT by EyesOfTX

Take Paris first: Paris is sadly a city plagued by frequent, major Islamic terrorist attacks, and the city’s government has shown zero sign of being willing to do anything effective to truly resolve the issue. Worse, France’s open borders policy virtually ensures that this problem is going to only become worse as the years go on, as more and more immigrants enter the country from Islamic nations. Hosting an Olympic Games will require Paris to become a literal police state for a minimum of six weeks, and the cost of infrastructure and security-mandated improvements will be astronomical.

Los Angeles may be even worse. LA is a bankrupt city in a bankrupt state run by mentally-bankrupt idiots. So naturally, the city’s leaders want to host an event that will require them to go find someone willing to loan them tens of billions more dollars that will be needed to upgrade and vastly expand the city’s crumbling infrastructure, and tens of billions more to finance the building of all the massive new event venues that will be required. No doubt, this sanctuary city in a sanctuary state which refuses to enforce U.S. immigration laws will come begging to the federal government to provide much of this funding. DC Democrats will be more than willing to support such largesse because they are thoughtless sheep. Any DC Republican who votes in favor of sending federal dollars to support this looming fiasco will richly deserve to be run out of office by his or her constituents at the next possible opportunity. There is not one good reason why taxpayers in Texas or any other state should be required to provide a thin dime to help pay for this nonsense.

“Los Angeles may be even worse. LA is a bankrupt city in a bankrupt state run by mentally-bankrupt idiots.”

This says it all right there.

People in my area (northeast NJ) learned a real lesson a few years ago when we hosted the Super Bowl; the average person and business saw no benefit at all, just traffic and a stack of bills.

Nowadays some cities reject such events, even hosting potential sports teams, because they know they are just subsidizing them...

Hey, this is just sad. We need to bring in loads of cops and military to protect the Olympics, guess that will just be the norm from now on.

Then again, France has the opportunity to showcase to the world the success of their immigration policy by fielding, say, a muslim female swim team. (then again that team probably wouldn’t win a medal with the wet burkas and all ...)

What could possibly go wrong? I'm guessing they'll have bigger problems than a little green algae in the pool...

Hosting the Olympics has become a pretty decent proxy for identifying the current and future failed states of the world, so a sort of arid version of Brazil such as Los Angeles landing the Olympics is just further confirmation.

As I have pointed out on this forum before, there is no need to spend “tens of billions more to finance the building of all the massive new event venues that will be required.” The venues all exist, or will by 2024. Some spending will be needed for upgrades and refurbishment. London spent the equivalent of $10 billion in total for the games there in 2012.

The Los Angeles games in 1984 turned a profit. I see no reason why this can’t happen again. It might not, considering the incompetence of LA’s democrat run bureaucracy, but the hysteria of the author and the laziness of his research undermines his argument.

Los Angeles actually did great hosting the Olympics in 1984. They scared the crap out of their people, and it wound up that they had no traffic jams and no smog (everything essentially shut down), and relatively few outside visitors (they too were scared to visit). They used mostly existing venues, and the locals snapped up the tickets. And they let a non-Democrat white guy run the show (won’t happen again, I’m sure).

Wound up making billions of dollars. But I agree with others...it won’t happen again, not there, no way.

My first thought was about Chicago or Los Angeles getting the Olympic nod.

They say California would be the Xth largest economy in the world if they were a separate country. This is their chance to show off. Let California, the city and county of LA and private donors fund this entire show. Let the taxpayers in the other 49 states not pay a penny for this.

Some persons are hoping to make L.A. a duplicate of Mexico City.
