Rep. Lamar Smith (R-TX) spoke with Breitbart News’ Washington Political Editor Matt Boyle on Breitbart News Saturday on SiriusXM Patriot Channel 125 on Saturday about the media bias that’s reached unprecedented levels since President Donald Trump was elected and poses a risk to the democracy it is tasked to protect.
“I think the media bias today is a threat to our democracy for this reason,” said Smith, who is the chairman of the House Media Fairness Caucus. “If the American people don’t get the facts then they can’t make good decisions.
“And if the American people can’t make good decisions because they’re not getting the facts then I think that is a threat to democracy,” Smith said.
Smith said the “so-called mainstream media” is not only replacing facts with opinion but “invective and venomous opinions” when it comes to reporting on Trump.

Smith also said that the media clearly did not expect Trump to win the presidency and that it was a “shock to their system.”
“But that’s still no excuse for the amount of bias we’re seeing,” Smith said.
The bottom line is you cannot sustain a Democracy without a fair and impartial press. We lost that a very long time ago.
It’s not fake news that’s the threat, it’s gullibility.

The media has never been unbiased. That is a fallacy perpetuated by the Left media cartel. Prior to radio/tv the print media had a healthy number of competitors.
Competition will defeat the Left media cartel.
A good start would be to stop funding the Left media cartel.
Cancel your cable tv.
Stop buying national brands that advertise on tv. Buy local or generic brands.
Stop eating at national chain restaurants that advertise on tv.
The Left media cartel will never change its ways, if anything they will only get worse.
Create opportunities for more competitors by stop funding the Left media cartel.
To disrupt the system, we must disrupt our lives.

I mean really, how can you have an investigation going on without oversight by the AG, whose job it is, and the Deputy AG has washed his hands of it. We have a unitary executive, not ad hoc executives everytime we don't like the political consequences of our last election.
