Drop in Food Aid Applications Called "Horrific" [semi-satire]

The Alabama Department of Human Resources reports that since reinstating the work requirement for able-bodied recipients in 13 counties, the number of people requesting aid from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) has declined by 85%.

The steep decline in program participation was decried as "horrific" by House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif). "The idea that any level of government would be permitted to resort to such an extortionate scheme is as clear a demonstration of the local government tyranny inspired by the illegitimate Bush Administration. Forcing a person to choose between two evils—work or starve—is not the America I know and love."

"In fact, this is the kind of thing they do in Russia," Pelosi contended. "That it would appear here in America at this time is, in my mind, yet further evidence of Russia's undue influence since they rigged the November election against Secretary Clinton. I think we need to add this to the list of charges we draw up in response to the Comey testimony." Modify message

Listening to Nancy Pelosi, knowing that many Americans agree with her, and knowing that the existence of the Left is funded purely by massive government debt in our printed, unbacked, manipulated Federal Reserve dollars - makes me believe that only a Fed.gov bankruptcy and huge currency crisis is probably the only way to restore sanity to this country, before the Republic is completely destroyed.

Satire, I know.

However, my mother worked in DHS, and when "Workfare" was implemented during the Clinton years, she reported that her caseload dropped substantially.

While some individuals are definitely destitute and we should help them out, there is a cadre of give me sumtins out there who need be weined from our wallets. First target should be non citizen aliens who do not have permanent alien status. After that, there are those who have the assets, while not the income, to sustain themselves. Assistance should be a last resort, not some program(s) designed for one to keep their financial assets.

Yep. Mom always used to say, "Whatever you subsidize, you get more of."

Easiest way to cut off illegal immigration is to cut off the gravy train. There are an awful lot of bureaucrats that depend on it, though, and the wailing and gnashing of teeth will be spectacular.

A number of these able-bodied, childless adults are college students taking advantage of a loophole in the system. Apply for food stamps, then they either don’t need a job or need to work fewer hours to make ends meet. We end up subsidizing their way through college.
