Something is Very Wrong with Reality Winner and the NSA Leak
The Huffington Post ^ | June 6, 2017 | Peter Van Buren, Contributor

Posted on 06/07/2017 9:26:36 AM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

An NSA document purporting to show Russian military hacker attempts to access a Florida company which makes voter registration software is sent anonymously to The Intercept. A low-level NSA contractor, Reality Winner, above, is arrested almost immediately. What’s wrong with this picture? A lot.

Who Benefits?

Start with the question of who benefits — cui bono— same as detectives do when assessing a crime.

— Trump looks bad as another trickle of information comes out connecting something Russian to something 2016 election. Intelligence community (IC) looks like they are onto something, a day or so before ousted FBI Director James Comey testifies before Congress on related matters.

— The Intercept looks like it contributed to burning a source. Which potential leaker is going to them in the future? If potential leakers are made to think twice, another win for the IC.

— The FBI made an arrest right away, nearly simultaneous to the publication, with the formal charges coming barely an hour after The Intercept published. The bust is sure thing according to the very publicly released information. No Ed Snowden hiding out in Russia this time. IC looks good here.

— More evidence is now in the public domain that the Russians are after our election process. Seems as if the IC has been right all along.

What Happened is... Curious and Curiouser...

Now let’s look at what we know so far about how this happened.

A 25-year-old improbably-named Reality Winner leaves behind a trail long and wide on social media of anti-Trump stuff, including proclaiming herself a member of The Resistance. Never mind, she takes her Top Secret clearance with her out of the Air Force (she had been stationed with the military’s 94th Intelligence Squadron out of Fort Meade, Maryland, co-located with the NSA’s headquarters)[continued]

The only thing I find “more and more curious” is how you don’t vomit in between finding these articles and posting them here. :)

We NEED to see what our enemy is up to. I’m just sorry you have to do the dirty work.

I get sick just reading them here.

I read that what she leaked was only a hypothetical situation...aka...."pretend", "fake" "not real".

Seems she left out that little missing piece.

Jeff Sessions is the joke and it's not a good one. I like the guy, but for all practical purposes he has recused himself of the position of AG.

Jeff Sessions needs to resign immediately and we need a new AG with a name like Rudy Giuliani that will actually enforce the law.

Something wrong when I agree with HuffPo. And yet, The “inverse size limit” seems to apply in DC. The “big fish” are set free to swim away and only the little fish are brought to the dock.

The Intercept looks like it contributed to burning a source.

They didn't burn their source. She burned herself. When the item was printed it was logged on the network. Five others also printed the same article. They were all accounted for. That left only her.

Also, the document was printed using stealth ink technology that identifies the printer like a fingerprint...............

And I don’t trust “news” sites that don’t allow comments. I figure they’re hiding behind their fakeness.

Granted, this piece doesn’t even attempt to pass itself off as news. It’s HuffPo speculation...smell test stuff ABOUT news. Still, get with the comments, already.

I believe she has some pre-occupation with Iran...

Court records show the FBI visited Reality Leigh Winner’s home Saturday and took her passport, some mail, a pair of spiralbound notebooks, two piece of notebook paper with handwritten notes, a power bill, a Department of Defense-issued “country handbook” about Iran...

“Do they actually think that LEOs wait until something is published before they make an arrest????”

Sometimes they don’t even wait for probable cause.

‘Waaaaaaaahhhhh! Berniebot Democrat operative is exposed stealing and sharing classified information. MUST be another Trump/Russian conspiracy.’

The Left didn’t even want to cover this leaker’s arrest until they had their talking points lined up. It still isn’t trending of fakebook.

She was evidently an idiot, and they would have to fire her anyway. So why not use her to plant disinformation?

Don't worry. As you read this, Attorney General Jeff Sessions is diligently at work assembling a subcommittee to review federal marijuana laws.

Rest easy, FRiend. He's on top of things that matter.

I’m not giving up on Jeff Sessions yet. There’s got to be some other explanation for his apparent inaction.

“Too easy? And, such a low level position.”

Back in the day, a leftie assclown like her would never have been given access to anything. But with 8 years of Obama stuffing the gov’t and IC with reliable moles, standards have been almost eliminated.
