I see everyone hates the basic income idea, and it is smart to be skeptical. It may be worse than no government assistance, but there is a case it is better than the ad hoc, targeted programs we have now. Less bureaucracy, less rent seeking, less government control. You get rid of welfare, social security, obamacare, food stamps, corruption, and fraud(somewhat). Every government transfer payment goes away, and is replaced with a single payment.

Milton Friedman advocated something similar, with the negative income tax, and makes a good case.

“What if the people who were most at risk — people from low-income and marginalized communities who are living day to day with real challenges — were able to become social entrepreneurs?”

I do not want to do productive work to have the money I earned based on the wealth I created stolen by thugs. I do not want to work hard to support people who are parasites and who oppose my values. It's time for wealth redistribution to come to an end completely and for the welfare class to get real jobs or live on voluntary charity.

Those of us who leave within our means will bank it and retire sooner.

Those of us who do not live within our means will fall deeper in debt and begin lobbying politicians for an increase in the “basic income” during election years.

Rinse and repeat.

So they'll get "free" money from the slaves, I mean tax payers. Don't they have enough welfare benefits?

Even the great Milton Friedman was capable of having bad ideas. “Guaranteed Basic Income” is a bad idea no matter how it is dressed up. Maybe you should take a trip up to the Canadian arctic, and see how it plays out in real life.

It wouldn’t work. Whatever the guaranteed income would be set at would become the new zero income.

Basic Income is a scheme to chain people more closely to their government and to strip the middle class of the wealth required to pay for it and through taxation reducing the middle class to poverty and replacing their incomes with this Basic Income. As it will severely reduce the tax base it must be supplied with balloon money and won’t even be usable as toilet paper because it will be implemented as cashless digital transfers.

Complete and utter crap. Just what society needs, generations of parasitic dependent drones living off the productive members of society. No one in their right mind can believe this garbage for a second.

It’s how then Speaker Nancy Pelosi tried to justify Obamacare. Remember?

Commentary: Would Trump ever propose a universal basic income?
But let’s take a step back and remember that Trump’s top strategic advisor, Steve Bannon, has made it abundantly clear that he’s a big-government guy. Last week, Mike Flynn described his ideas as “more left than right.” Bannon himself doesn’t make much effort to hide this: “The conservatives are going to go crazy. I’m the guy pushing a trillion-dollar infrastructure plan,” he told Michael Wolff just after the election.

>>where does this communist “basic income” come from?

They just print it and hope the economy runs perpetually from the velocity of money.

This sounds like a plan to take money earned by whites and give it to people with melanin poisoning.

It’s just a halfway measure. Halfway to making people work for it.
Once everyone has mandatory welfare, they’ll be corraled into mandatory workfare.

I am tired of paying for the losers.

I could be doing beach cleanup, working as a volunteer at the Carrabelle Historical Society and the Camp Gordon Johnson museum, working as a friend of the library, doing cleanup at the beach and Wakullah Springs, riding my bike, kayaking, learning to fish again,...

No end of fun stuff to do, if I don’t have worry about feeding a family and paying taxes. My ambitions were crushed long ago.

Go ahead. Pull the trigger on this. I bet there are a lot of old guys who feel this way.

If you want to see what this typically results in, look at the inner cities and rural areas drowning in drug abuse and crime.
