Were you one of the people warning us about Romney’s influence on Trump, when Mitt was being interviewed?

‘I just can’t understand why he’s even being interviewed!’

Leverage. McCabe is loyal to Comey and hates Trump. Right now he’s the acting Director of the FBI. He’s in a position to harm Trump.

Now what would make McCabe least likely to backstab Trump while he’s heading the FBI? The embarrassment of not even being considered for the top job...or being publicly listed as a leading candidate?

So when he doesn’t get the job, he’ll just be a happy camper...

Romney trashed Trump until he was wined and dined and publicly considered for SoS. He hasn’t criticized Trump since he failed to get the job. Reason: he’s been defanged. If you are high-profile considered for a job and fail to get it, subsequent carping is seen as sour grapes.

As for covert backstabbing, that will be much harder after a Trump-friendly Director is installed. The latter can instantly shoot down any leaked lies or propaganda, and then can raise Cain till he finds the leaker.

Trump thinks strategically. It’s what’s gotten him this far.

Grassley is my Senator. He is good. I hope he nails them...however I hope they don’t “breitbart” him

If I were McCabe after Trump’s tape tweet yesterday, I would be more worried that this was and interrogation setup instead of a job interview.

Shortlist for FBI director:

Ray Kelly, the former and longest-serving New York City police commissioner
Mike Rogers, former House Intelligence Committee chairman and former FBI agent
Former Assistant Attorney General Alice Fisher
Rep. Trey Gowdy, R-S.C.
Senate Majority Whip John Cornyn, R-Texas
Paul Abbate, executive assistant director for the Criminal, Cyber, Response and Services Branch
Associate Judge of New York Court of Appeals Mike Garcia
Mayor of Colorado Springs John Suthers
Former federal appellate court Judge Michael Luttig, now executive vice president of Boeing
Larry Thompson, former deputy attorney general under President George W. Bush
Acting FBI Director Andrew McCabe

Don’t trust Cornyn...do trust Luttig (recall him as a very conservative SCOTUS nominee)

I don’t have detailed enough info on all these people to know which one would be best. As Bill Mitchell says, this is the kind of decision we hired Trump to make. I’m confident he’ll get it right.

I’m even more confident he won’t choose McCabe. I was equally certain he wouldn’t pick Romney for SoS. Yet the screams and wails around here were defeaning. Just because Trump said publicly that he was considering Romney, and bought him a serving of frog legs, way too many freepers shifted into in full blown panic mode.

It seems the more Trump uses his position for lebetage, the less some of his supporters understand it. Me, I learn just from watching him in action. He’s quite a remarkable person.
