Without new battery concepts, electric cars are limited to city driving. Anything more than an hour one way is not feasible. Most people would like to take some sort of road trip every few months.

You’re way off, the tesla S has range of 265 miles now and a slightly bigger pack is coming soon. There are charging stations all over and charging times are short enough for a meal so very long trips are possible
