FullMag Youtuber Ford truck usage has taken its toll, the cylinder has gone out. It would cost more to have it fix then to just go out and buy a new truck. Rather than tear up the vehicle piece by piece, theyve decided to try out a theory with a 50 cal Barrett. Can a .50 cal stop a running engine?
FullMag utilizes the armor piercing, incendiary round for a good cause. Shooting through the block is relatively anticlimactic, since it will only leak oil. So let's try to place a couple rounds through the valves and see if we can get some fire coming out. See the 50 cal against an engine block here.

Maybe, but only if you shoot and hit it - then still a chance it keeps going.

In reality the truck will probably not run as normal. A Chevy would................

Will a .50 Cal Stop A Running Engine?Yes. Just one headshot to the driver and the vehicle with the running engine stops - guaranteed.

I was just thinking that in the movie “The Accountant” the truck is stopped with 1 shot from a .50 cal, and I just assumed that it was plausible.

Yes, if you hit the right spot.
A random shot will likely eventually stop the engine due to fluid leakage. A shot hitting the crank shaft or timing belt will stop it cold.

Yes. Just one headshot to the driver and the vehicle with the running engine stops - guaranteed. The question posed is whether a .50 cal will stop a Running Engine, not whether it will stop Vehicle with a running engine. A stopped vehicle can still have a running engine.

I witnessed a helicopter crash on board USS Princeton in 1961. Night operations, pilot of an HR2S (twin engines, clam shell doors) got vertigo and hit the island with the rotor blades. A piece of the aluminum blades went THROUGH the engine block of an APU, exited and destroyed the steel handle. Never did find the piece of blade.
