Wasnt the best at air to air combat as a result of its poor turning. But it was the father of the NEW Thunderbolt, the A10.
If you have ever been around one you would be amazed at how friggan big they are. A couple used to come to the Oshkosh show every year and that was the first plane I would go and see.
Take out the radiator and the engine will seize up. Good chance of also destroying the fan belt driven items. Saw a Vietnam armored field electric generator that had two 50 cal rounds go through the armor protected radiator while it was running. Engine was completely seized up and a scrap pill of metal. As you say one round for the radiator and one for a head shot of the driver.
