Significant increase in military funding was absolutely necessary and worth the tradeoffs this time.
In the end Trump is right, you either need to get 60 R senators, or else you need to get rid of the filibuster on legislation. I support the latter, myself.

The Democrats are not filibustering, they are obstructing and the GOP is letting them.
In a real filibuster, the opponents filibustering must remain on the Senate floor
continuously speaking to keep the filibuster alive.
Now Democrats just check a little box that says filibuster.
In the good old days, they actually wheeled sick Senators onto the floor in wheel chairs to serve their time on the filibuster.
Trade offs ? What trade offs ? Funding PP, no money for the wall? Etc etc. it’s a Democrat wish list. We won!! And it still doesn’t matter.
You actually use strategy, you break out that military spending, you push the Democrats to go on the record to vote against it, a bit of meaningless symbolism since it will pass the house. In the senate, there’s enough votes from those who are solid or going up for re-election that it’d pass as well.
At the end of the day, he’s buying votes to avoid a vote on a bill that would hurt the other party. That is such a massive gift, for a party which has a long history of never delivering on their promises.
But can you imagine the amount of capital he could get out of vetoing the porkzilla bill and then upending the table by putting forward his own choice of speaker, someone who’s not a member of congress who he suggests can actually challenge congress to organize and push forward useful legislation and actual budgeting?
This deal just puts everything Trump said he wanted on the sidelines and there’s every reason to assume that Democrats will not follow up on any backroom promises.
I love Trump but I don’t see why he’s saying shut it down in September. What will be any different in September?
Nothing. So why not shut it down now and fight for what’s right?
no, it was not “worth the tradeoffs” and please sit out politics in the future if you are that much of a milquetoast wimp
“Significant increase in military funding was absolutely necessary.”
I think a significant percentage of Republican voters were more concerned with too much government spending and we end up with more not less and so much wasteful spending on Obamacare.
If the roles were reversed, the Democrats would accuse the Republicans of not listening to the American people and causing a shutdown. They never say “That’s all we could do.”
It is always easier to shut the government down 5 months down the road than now. We will see.
Honey you the GOP are
60 Republicans is better than 60 democrats
But it’s not enough
The republicans are such weasels
They want Trump to fail
Pence on Rush now. Sounds pathetic. Blathering on and on about $21B for military while letting dims get everything they want. We control all 3 branches of government and can’t pass a sane spending bill. PP and refugee resettlement in there. What a joke!@&$(;:
