The radical transformation of cable news continues. According to a report by Yashar Ali in New York Magazine, conservative radio talk show host Hugh Hewitt is in talks with MSNBC about the creation of a new television show Hewitt would host.
According to New York Magazines sources, the show would air on weekend evenings. Initially, Hewitt had been offered a show for weekend mornings, but Hewitt turned the offer down because he reportedly wants an evening show.
Hewitt is a longtime conservative radio host who is broadcast through the popular Salem Radio Network. He is also currently a contributor for NBC News and appears frequently on panels on MSNBC and NBC News shows, such as Meet the Press.
If Hewitt does end up with his own show on MSNBC, it would continue the traditionally liberal networks move toward more moderate programming. MSNBC shocked many when it decided to launch in January 2017 a new show featuring conservative Greta Van Susteren, who hosted a show on the Fox News Channel for 14 years.
Ali reports the move toward a more balanced television lineup is not sitting well with some at the network.
MSNBCs talks with Hewitt come at a time of increased internal tension at the network, Ali reported. Some staff are worried that NBC News chairman Andy Lack is leading the cable network in a more conservative direction. At an NBC News town hall after the election, Lack said that the organization should be focused on appealing to Americas heartland, according to people at the meeting. The remark was widely seen as a directive to, as one source put it, focus on Trump voters. Hewitts view of President Donald Trump is unquestionably more favorable than the views held by many of the other hosts at MSNBC, especially top hosts Chris Matthews and Rachel Maddow.
In a recent op-ed for the Washington Post titled Trumps Firs 100 Days Give Conservatives a lot to Celebrate, Hewitt called Trumps time in office an enormous sea change and mostly praised the Trump administrations performance.
And I would not describe him as a "top conservative host." I think there are at least a couple of conservative hosts who beat Huey in his time slot.
Hewitt bailed on Trump over grabber-gate.
Hewett is no conservative. He is a RINO.
That’s why I said he shouldn’t be billed as a “top conservative host.”
But he’s noticeably more conservative then most of teh other people at MSNBC.
Yep, I wondered how conservative Hewitt really is; if we can really call him a mainstream conservative.
Well, compared to the usual MSNBC crowd, Hewitt is a staunch conservative by comparison........
Yup.
Huge has gone Full RYno.
Hewitt is a rino turned whore, and he reads this forum. Calls himself a Christian, yet look again.
Greta Van Susteren is not a conservative, she in fact a Democrat. Said said she is a straight shooting professional journalist and one of the best interviewers around. Fox screwed up when they let Greta walk.
Greta’s sister ran for Congress as a Dhimmicrap.
Who isn’t?
Hewitt is no conservative. He’s an establishment Rino through and through. Yeah MessNBC, give him a show that nobody will ever watch.
Except the same three people who watch the rest of their programs.
Top...radio host.
Only seen the guy interviewed a few times, never listened to his show. Still he might be more conservative than Scarborough.
yet another reason to cut the cable
“Hewett is no conservative. He is a RINO.”
Trying to pass off Hugh Hewett as a Conservative is fake news.
He’d probably be the most conservative host on the network.
And to think, they once had Alan Keyes.
Establishment cuck Hugh Hewitt? No thanks. Paul Ryan will be his first guest and he would kiss his ass
Hewitt is a Globalist-Cheap Labor Whore of the Big Corporations.
