An Indonesian man who claimed to be the world's oldest human at 146 years old has died, his family say.

Mbah Gotho, a great-great granddad from Central Java, outlived his four wives, 10 siblings and all of his children.

He was reportedly hospitalised on April 12, but insisted on checking out six days later so he could be taken home.

He died shortly after, having "refused" to eat or drink.

Mbah hit the headlines last year after presenting documentation showing he was born in December 1870.

Seems like every week there are some news report of the oldest person alive dying. Can’t be the oldest all the time at different ages sometimes younger or older. The last one I think was 116 and they claim that person was the oldest person.

"...146 years old..."

Let's even say for laughs he made it to 120 years, there is a good chance he outlived some of his grandchildren.

"...horseshit..."

Are you doubting the superb records maintained in Indonesia during the 1870s? LOL.

My grandfather, who I never knew, was born in 1870 and died in 1946."The Howard Families" always intrigued me. Someone should study this guy's progeny.

Born on the last day of 1870...so his father was able to claim him as a deduction on his 2870 taxes.

When I was a kid I knew an old woman (mother of a friend of my grandmother) who was born in February 1869. Abraham Lincoln would have still been President then if he had not been shot.
