The deadly fight between Somali pirates and a Private security guard on board a cargo ship, when pirates were trying to board the ship.

Security guards fire dozens more rounds at the vessel which eventually retreats. It has come to prominence again following an attack on an oil tanker. See the firefight between security and Somali pirates here.

Kill them all. I would also use some armor piercing ammo.

I don’t approve of warning shots against pirates. That’s just sending them to the next ship and keeping the high seas dangerous. Shots that are fired should count.

A friend of mine and a former Navy Seal spent 3 months on a tanker in the area as contract security a few years ago. He is pretty tight lipped about whether they had any firefights.

I do know that the possession of firearms was a problem in some ports and they had to hide and lock them up and on their last port when they were though with the 3 month tour they threw the guns overboard before going into port.

I believe there are also "armory ships" operating in the Gulf of Aden; these also serve as floating barracks.

UN resolution forbidding private armed guards on ships.

Many ports of call forbid carrying of arms by crew on visiting ships.

They call that a fire fight?

These “security” guards cannot hit the side of a barn. Obviously NOT Americans. More like UN troops.
