By shooting your handgun at a frozen lake. Did these guys fake this video of a bullet spinning on the ice after being shot into a frozen lake?
It appears as though this video is real. Wonder how many shots it took them to get the bullet to spin like that. Here's the scientific explanation of this phenomenal:
It's the conservation of angular momentum. As the bullet exits the barrel, the rifling (grooves along the barrel) causes the bullet to spin. It's this spinning motion that keeps the bullet straight (a lot straighter than a lead ball, for example).
So even when the translational motion of the bullet has stopped, the angular motion is retained - thus a bullet spinning in place. What do you all think?, science aside it sure is fun to watch this in action, see the spinning bullet here.
