Democrats planning a likely futile gesture to send a message to Trump
Desperate to placate their increasingly rabid far left-wing base, ethically-flexible Senate Democrats are planning to launch a filibuster against a Supreme Court nominee for the first time in a half-century and only the second time in American history.
Their insistence on this course of action could very well lead to the abolition of the filibuster for Supreme Court nominations.
They are posturing and drawing straws to see who votes for cloture. Cloture will pass. This time. Next nominee? They hope they control the Senate then.
Dems are going to try to block everything Trump proposes. They are a solid block. I will never vote dem anytime, ever.
If they try it then make them really do it. They must hold the floor and talk for 24 hours a day for as long as they want to filibuster. No letting them off with a fake-ibuster like we have in the past.
Make the “democrats” the party of unicorns, rainbows and mushroom clouds.
Be patient and think strategically. Fight to win the long war, don't focus unnecessary resources on a single skirmish.
Wait till Gingsburg, and/or one of the other ones, croak or retires...LOL...there will be much wailing and gnashing of teeth. And we need to shove it right down their Hairy Reid throats and make em gag on it. We’ve done nothing but take crap from these insane communist morons for years. It’s time to do em in....politically speaking, of course.... ;)
Doesn’t the other side get equal time. I don’t know the filibuster rules. Insisting a vulnerable Senator up in 18’ would be good for starters.
Karl, do you really think that the Republicans will stand nose and toe to toe against the Democrats? They could, but I will believe it when I see it. And if the past is any indication of the future, the Republicans will cave.
>stay calm, patient and reasonable
aren’t FRs always that way (ducking)?
Harry Reid opened this door, by invoking the nuclear option for various pres nominees. How can democrats be intellectually honest about any of this? They saw fit to ban filibuster of pres nominees when it suited their purposes. So how can they say we need to keep it for Supreme Court nominees, just because Chuck Schumer doesn’t like a Supreme Court nominee??
At the end of the day...Gorsuch will get 60 votes...
Deals will be cut and Americans will be screwed some where down the road..
I agree. Get rid of the two-track rule.
