If you ever wondered if the ACLU was a strictly far left wing organization

Wonder no more.

Fresh off an attack on Jeff Sessions, the ACLU disclosed its plans to fight Donald Trump. The plan sounds so baldly partisan it could have been written by Debbie Wasserman Schultz:

CORAL GABLES, Fla. (AP) -- The American Civil Liberties Union staged a nationwide training event Saturday to make sure people are aware of their rights as protesters and urge organized, public resistance by those opposed to policies of President Donald Trump.

Organizers said the event at a sports arena on the University of Miami campus was livestreamed to locations in all 50 states. ACLU Executive Director Anthony Romero said 200,000 people had signed up to attend one of an estimated 2,000 local events.

The event, staged in town hall style, was aimed at capitalizing on numerous demonstrations since Trump's election in November and to make sure people know their rights to protest, Romero said. He said priority issues are immigration, the First Amendment free speech and religious freedom rights, civil and reproductive rights and rights of gay, lesbian and transgender people.

Here's where it gets interesting:
Another plan is creation of "freedom cities" around the country that would encourage local officials to pass laws resisting Trump policies such as stepped-up deportations of people living in the country illegally, said Faiz Shakir, ACLU national political director.
They will resist Trump carrying out existing deportation orders, which is what is currently happening. This is why my father used to call it the American Criminal Liberties Union. For liberals, history always begins when a Republican is elected- sort of a historical Big Bang. obama deported more people than anyone else but that came before the Trump Big Bang so there is no record of it at the ACLU. The insanity is palpable:
That man is now on the verge of swearing a solemn oath  to "preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States." While it's true that all presidents swear this oath and inevitably go on to abuse their powers, we believe the Trump administration poses the single greatest threat to civil liberties, civil rights, and the rule of law in modern memory. With such dark clouds appearing on the horizon, it would be irresponsible not to prepare for the inevitable storm. The day after the election, we took the president-elect's extreme rhetoric seriously and began prepping for the incoming administration.
I would like to know exactly whose rights as Americans have been abridged or curtailed, something that is curiously absent from their all their bed wetting protestations.

If mayors, councilmen, hell, even cops, get in the way of ICE, they should be arrested.

Get rid of their non-profit tax status and open the books. They forgot their mission long ago.

Time for new civil liberties organizations that actually fight for the rights of the individual.

ACLU Executive Director Anthony Romero

That a descendant of the murderous Spanish Inquisition and Conquistadors of South and Central America would be the head of a "civil rights" organization in the United States would be found astonishing to the Protestant Anglo founders of the country.

The only "civil right" that Antonio Romero believes in is the civil right to invade the United States that he and his amigos believe is their birthright.

They never quit. They have to avenge the loss and humiliation of ceding North America to the hated gringo.

They forgot their mission as soon as they picked their (misnomer) name.

So it only took until 2017 for the ACLU to discover the 9th and 10th amendments.

I never wondered for one second after I learned their stance on the 2nd Amendment. Any objective defender of civil rights for Americans would ALSO defend the 2nd Amendment rights of Americans, not just the 1st, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th...and they are quite selective with those cases, as well.

Nope, the ACLU is a highly left-leaning organization...and always has been, since its inception. Anyone who misses that is an idiot (literally, according to the dictionary definition of the word before dictionaries became politically correct).

Hasn't the ACLU been a Communist front organization from its beginning?

By "free speech" they probably mean branding any opinions they disagree with as "hate speech" (not allowed and liable to criminal prosecution) and by "religious freedom" they mean forbidding people from claiming moral or religious objections from complying with dictates from the gay activists or the pro-abortion activists or their allies in the courts.

They also claim that Obamacare is “the most significant civil liberties and civil rights legislation of this century.”

I happen to agree, inasmuch as no legislation this century restrains civil liberties and civil rights more than Obamacare.

What they don’t explain is why the American “Civil Liberties” Union promotes the most massive instance of government interference in private affairs since World War II.

Sure has.It was originally created and financially totally supported by the Soviet Union, and American sympathizers in the 1930s...

Not much of a secret.

I may be wrong, but I think those facts were eventually confirmed by the release of the "Venona Papers."
