I have been thinking of this. Where are they? Who ordered what?
I thought once something was on the internet it could never truly be erased?
Seriously, I would wager that all kinds of record-keeping laws were broken in the destruction of email and other electronic evidence by the Obama Administration. I would also wager that some Presidential pardons were secretly written and put in safe places for storage in case someone got caught. Just speculating.
Those “White House” computers are FEDERAL Property. As such, their total identification data appears on a CACRL and they are inventoried annual by both their supply custodians and their supporting IT specialists.
As inventoried Federal Property their transfer, sale, or disposal are covered by Federal regulations - they aren’t an “XB3” item.. In fact, there are fairly extensive GAO guidance as to how to replace or buy new computers. It takes some serious man hours to justify replacing a single system.
IMHO the Obama White House staff learned a lot from Hillary’s server debacle including how much information remains accessible after files have been “deleted.”
The fastest way to ensure no information “escapes” is to physically take everything with you.
BTW - wouldn’t security want to examine the hard drives, internal and external before the PCs were removed from Federal Property?
