Multinational software giant SAP SE has called on the incoming Trump administration to rethink any punitive tariffs and tax policies as it sets out to create 10,000 new jobs in the U.S. over the next year.

The firm, which currently serves 25 industries across 190 countries, aims to significantly boost its business in the U.S. over the coming 13 months, chief executive Bill McDermott told CNBC's Squawk Box at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

However, he said that he was worried that added taxes and tariffs could be "problematic" for these goals.

"We obviously don't want to get into any difficulties on tariffs, we want to create jobs and create economic opportunity."

McDermott said the firm would be creating contingency plans should Trump's widely-touted punitive policies come into play, however he added that ultimately he did not believe they would cause any "real issues"....

How much more winning can we take? I'm guessing those won't be minimum wage jobs.

Imagine that. US policy saying don't take our jobs any longer. And more jobs in the US.

DUUUH.

With no disrespect to Trump. Just that it shouldn't have taken so long for someone to come along and state the obvious.

They were in cahoots with those sending our jobs overseas.

I always take any remarks from anyone who runs with the Davos Crowd with a large grain of salt.

Good. Maybe they’ll improve their software.

2ndDivisionVet :" They were in cahoots with those sending our jobs overseas."

All of a sudden, the Davos folks are going to bring their globalist jobs in America.
What does SAP think ?..that we are all Sapps ?
Stay in Switzerland, where immigration requires each citizen to have a gun.
I haven't heard of any acts of barbarism there lately.
I wonder why ?

I used to work for SAP and I have met Bill McDermott and can honestly say that I was not impressed. President Trump had better watch out that these “new” jobs are not staffed up with H1B visa holders as is SAP’s standard practice. If SAP utilizes H1B labor the the Americans who voted for him will get nothing out of it and welfare payments will not go down.

H1B is about to be sharply curtailed.

“Good. Maybe they’ll improve their software.”

Yeah, good luck with that. I’ve been working with SAP software since 1998, programming in their ABAP language and configurating the different applications.

I would just like to see them spend some time and make their error messages tell you something about the problem you just encountered instead of leaving you scratch your head in confusion.

Maybe S4 HANA will be better.

News tonight says that all these job creations really have occurred on Obama’s watch but just couldn’t be announced until now because plans were not complete. BS!!!!

Good ol’ Germans, right? I was a user and their UI was clunky and clumsy IMO and their tech support was also clunky and clumsy. As you mentioned — cryptic nonsensical error messages. Maybe it was lost in the German to English translation? :)

Plus, it was extremely expensive — my old company spent $20 million on the installation.

To be fair, we were dealing with the installation and trying to keep production moving — bailing water and at full steam ahead!
