I’d never heard of JD Supra before so I searched it. Seems to be a legal intelligence news chooser and aggregation entity that caters mostly to lawyers and legal entities.
It also seems to me that this “gig” economy stuff, never mentioned in Obama’s tenure, is now a source of some potential concern - imagine that. Workers who became part of this “gig” meme, actualizing as subcontractors, part-time or otherwise - off the company books as a long term liability for pensions or benefits, were NOT a concern in the years and years of BLS data spewed forth like clockwork.
They were EMPLOYED and counted to take down that unemployment rate. But, no, no, no. NOW they are part of the [ooga booga] GIG economy and therefore of great concern regarding what Trump’s Presidential Policies and Actions may affect them.
About the only thing I can say about this rising phenomena of invisible problems (under Obama) now becoming visible because of Trump’s future faults doesn’t give me the warm fuzzies when it is opined by a legal industry harbinger.
Forcing regulators to struggle to try to control the burgeoning and expanding role of “independent contractors” in the business scene is no bad thing. Those who are on the life course to become the regulators of society norms are rather inflexible individuals, and to keep them on their toes to try to make sense of the changing world, prevents the kind of multiple sclerosis that inhibits thinking and reasoning that otherwise creeps into the daily lives of everybody.
I’m convinced the slang “They could screw up a _____ dream” began with Liberals!
Even a gig worker would get a 1099 unless the contractor was cooking the books? I’ve also wondered how many uber drivers have a policy that covers commercial passenger operations. It’s safe to say many will have the minimum coverage that frankly is not much. It is messy for sure. If anyone has insight on this please share it.

It won’t take much.
Just a few changes and the entrepreneurial spirit will gain speed again.
I am in such a company and I am ready for even a minor change and we will be taking off.
