President-elect Donald Trump famously referred to Sen. Ted Cruz as "Lyin' Ted" on the campaign trail, but could Cruz be a contender to serve in one of the country's most honorable positions?
Cruz's name has been floated as a potential replacement for the late Antonin Scalia as a justice of the U.S. Supreme Court. Trump is expected to name a nominee soon after his inauguration.
Cruz did not appear on Trump's official shortlist for the position, but the "Outnumbered" panel Monday debated whether he could in fact be a good fit.
"I think that Senator Ted Cruz could actually be a good choice from a political standpoint because Senator Cruz has already tipped his hat to the fact that he may be a nuisance of sorts to President-elect Donald Trump, so this is one way of someone who is strictly going to adhere the Constitution, have those conservative values and sort of get him out of the way politically," Lisa Boothe said....

There is a secular proverb:
“Politics makes strange bedfellows”
It may apply here.
I kinda doubt it....
No. Fake news.
Fake News. Just makin’ it up to fill space.
a good choice - keep Ted Cruz out of senate. He’ll be a extreme constitutionalist in SCOTUS, even better than Scalia.
Thinking Thomas & Cruz would be a solid combo
My thoughts also....
As a former Cruz supporter . . .
(1) I have issues with several things Cruz did during and after the election
(2) I have issues with Ted Cruz in the Senate and having his own agenda rather than supporting President Trump.
(3) I have a great deal of confidence that Ted Cruz would be an excellent conservative Justice for several decades. I like both his age and his politics for the purpose of the Court.
I’m okay with whatever President Trump decides on this one.
I think Cruz would be terrible. He’s too easily swayed, and rode/rides the fence in the Senate. Don’t know if he’s vulnerable to blackmail, or just weak in a situation of peer pressure. He might be OK, I guess, but I feel there’s the potential of something similar to John Roberts’ decision on Obamacare.
As a current Cruz supporter, I think he’s been busting his balls to help Trump fill the 100plus judgeships the last few weeks.
Cruz tried to become President even though ineligible. He should never be on the Supreme Court.
Conservative Presidents have made supreme court and appellant court mistakes ...
Lets push for the 95% sure constitutional candidate.
Cruz was a lousy Senator, and an even worse Candidate.
That being clear, I think he would be a solid Constitutionalist on the SCOTUS, and I believe he would serve honorably.
P.S. I trust that Trump knows what he is doing. MAGA!

I was going to write the exact same thing, my good FRiend, but you did so quite nicely, and more succinctly than what I had planned.
Good choice. Ginsberg would have a stroke. Cruz seat would be safe with another Republican appointed to take it.
Im okay with whatever President Trump decides on this one.

Only a guess but I suspect President elect Trump has had his mind made up on this selection
way before now. And I doubt seriously that Cruz was even a passing thought. jmo
Yep. It would be great.
99% assured an R would be re-elected in his place in a special election.
Cruz has proven himself to be dishonest and untrustworthy.
Who do we need a skirt chaser in those robes? A semi dishonest guy who wasn’t a citizen on paper until he was 16? A promise breaker (to support the nominee)? An arrogant superior sneak?
