This is just sore loser theater. It was bad in 2000, but this one is extra special fun. They should have sold tickets.

Some electors are being threatened, but they are not “in play.”

There have been a few incidents of unfaithful electors but they were minor.

I’ve never seen this happen before. This is advocating a coup.

The liberals in this country are no better than stalinists.

I would guess it’s probably happened before sometime in the 1800s, but I don’t know that for a fact. I also think you’re overstating things a little bit too. I don’t think that a significant number of Trump electors are really in play or ever were.

There have been electors getting loose, like in 1960 when 15 electors bolted and voted for Harry Byrd (Kennedy still won), but I don’t remember electors being cajoled like this. (I’m in my 60s.) It’s a threat to our democracy, as Hillary Clinton said, not to accept the outcome of the election.

It is the same hysterical theater in the media that we have seen throughout the campaign. I would not get too excited about it nor would I worry about some crazy turn of events.

Their “Camelot II” is dying before their eyes and they simply cannot accept it. They also can’t accept that it was a complete flop from start to finish.

Trump needs to remain focused on what he is doing - “winning.” That will speak far more loudly than anything else he can do and it will reinforce how absurd the media has become. They can talk all the smack they want and watch their ratings plummet - Trump can smile and point to the scoreboard.

Personally, I am still enjoying the tears and the beautiful sunrise in the East. I am sure we will all disagree at some point with a few things here and there, but overall I could not be happier at this moment in our nations history. Buckle your seatbelt FReepers - this is going to be a fun ride and don’t let the angst of the daily news cycle get you down!

Trump had to win FOUR times:

1) Win the nomination
2) Get the delegates he won to actually vote for him to become the candidate
3) Win November 8
4) And now, win on Dec 19

I’m 55 and I don’t remember any similar shenanigans, but the current BS may be more of an internet artifact than reality.

Also the internet has allowed idjits in geographically distant regions to find and reinforce their stupidity, magnifying it’s appearance and effect.

It also allows them to find and share the elector’s names and addresses with a few clicks so they can inundate them with messages.

This was practically impossible to do when there was only print methods of communication and media news.

Never forget that the MSM has a vested financial interest in torrid headlines and fomenting poor behavior so they can report it.

Polite society has yet to catch up with technology. The fact that Trump won, however, shows that it has at least woken up and taken the first step toward reasserting itself over the barbarians

I am 72 and I first started voting in 1966. I do not recall anything like this. I have never seen an assault on the Electoral College like what is going on now.

I’ve never heard of anything like this. I’ve been keeping up with politics since Carter.

Age 69 and I’ve been watching elections since I stayed up late to watch the Kennedy/Nixon results on TV. I think I read that there was one faithless elector that had a protest vote.

Never ever seen such shenanigans, and have never seen such blatant dereliction of duty by the Presstitutes. Ordinarily such antics would be laughable, since electors adhere to their party-but in this case, who knows what GOPe is doing behind the scenes-guess that’s why Donald chose Reince to help keep the faithless faithful.

Of course what passes for news on TV these days is little more than Tabloid fodder for the most part, so I no longer expect much from them.

I'm 65 and this subject comes up most elections. Students today aren't taught that we are a republic and what that means. Every day, all day, we hear that we are a democracy. I was taught that democracy is mob rule. 50+1 will get slavery reinstated with that philosophy. You must be taught the advantages of a republic to even want one today. Another "quote" that was preached to me from birth was "Government" is force. Why would anyone ever want to be forced into everything they do. Another was Socialism doesn't work,....ever,....anywhere. We have spent 100 years with Social Security and every couple of years, we have to "save it". People still say it's successful knowing it's going broke, can never be "fixed" and forever will be in jeopardy. Medicare is another "successful" socialist program that is even "broker" than Social Security. It makes up 3/4 of the nations debt and can never support itself so Obamacare is needed to fix our medical problems. All this pain and misery could have been avoided by listening to my 6th grade Social Studies teacher back in the '60's.

A quick diagnosis of this election will show that all the under 35, dope head, queer, flag burning, baby killers live in NYC, California, Chicago, Detroit, and a sprinkling of other counties throughout the US. If we lived in a democracy, Kansas and Arkansas would never have a say in anything. When things get to that point, the guns and ammo break out every time. If the collection of idiots all live in a couple of states, the others have no choice but to change things.

Under normal circumstances, most states are 51/49% and the electoral college matches the popular vote. When you have several states that have 60+% of one party win the vote, it will skew the popular vote vs the college. If 90% of Detroit votes Dem, it can skew the vote for MI for decades. What does South Dakota see in Republicans, Detroit cannot seem to fathom? The fact that Detroit has more voters than the whole state of South Dakota would mean S. Dakota would never get what it wants. If the Electoral College went away, all our presidents would be from Chicago, NYC, or LA.

This is all just a show to make the Electoral College look susceptible to coercion and corruption. Not designed to deny trump the presidency per se, but to paint the Electoral College in a bad light in the attempt to abolish it.

The argument will be "The electoral college is flawed and can be influenced, the popular vote cannot be circumvented."
