Give a Dog a Bad Name. Why is Russia Always Presumed Guilty?
Hitchensblog ^ | 12/12/2016 | Peter Hitchens

Posted on 12/14/2016 2:21:50 AM PST by Nextrush

I don't think I've heard the old saying "Give a dog a bad name..' for many years. The missing words were '...and hang him.' It used to be common, a caution against prejudice. Maybe its been driven out of use by the seemingly universal belief in the rival maxim that 'there's no smoke without fire' which most who've tried to light fires on a wet camping expedition will know to be downright untrue.....

..all part of the general disappearance of the presumption of innocence, not just in law but life. an increasing belief that, whether the subject is climate change, foreign policy or paedophiles, how you feel is far more important than what you know-and that the authorities must know what they're doing.....

... Russian intelligence agencies may have hacked the US Democratic National Committee and leaked.....

But it is a long way from 'they may very well have done it' to 'they did it' and so far I have not seen anything resembling a *FACT*.....

Mr. Trump's jibe that the CIA are the same people who found WMDs in Iraq seemed justified to me. I had the same thought. Could the CIA, and ... ever warmongering Senator John McCain, possibly have a motive? ..the Washington Post and New York Times....have motives.......

The New York Times says at one point 'tracking the origin of cyberattacks is complicated'.......

... a hacking group 'long associated' with the Russian internal security agency FSB got into the DNC. Then in 2016 a group of Russian hackers 'long associated with' the GRU, Russia's military intelligence organization, got into the DNC again.

...terms such as 'a group of Russian hackers long associated with; are a sign of the brakes being applied. Cut them out and see how much more confident the report would then be......

A lengthy blog post from Peter Hitchens throwing cold water on the noise and bluster about Russia.

After he's finished you realize the real investigation should be not into Russia, but the the "Arab Spring" mess in Syria, Libya and so on.

But of course that would implicate Saudi Arabia and the Gulf Arabs, whose money the UK, USA and other money poor deep in debt nations of the world rely on right.

And no doubt, the financial poverty of the West is a big motivator in the Western nations promotion of the Saudi backed Syrian Civil War.

Myself i think there should be a tunnel or above ground/water form of an intercontinental highway between Russia and Alaska.

Would stimulate the economy on both sides and form a more trusting bond. Whats going on is the dejected loser socialists and marxists in America are pissed off Russia abandoned socialism and converted to capitalists for the most part, thats why Russia gets blamed, and by who.
Eradicate the socialist agenda in America, make Russia a global partner.

Russia or the former Soviet Union has been hip deep in the 'Middle East' for many decades. Who helped Egypt build the Aswan Dam.?.. And it was Putin playing fast and loose with the UN sanctions of 'Oil for Rotten Food' imposed upon Saddam. Russia/Putin was NOT the least bit pleased with US taking out Saddam, and when Brack Obama initiated his 'Arab Spring' supposedly freeing Egyptians, Russia was concerned... The big insult to Russian interests was when Hillry took out and slaughtered Colonel Q of Libya. She was NOT the least bit diplomatic about her conquest... So Russia saw the direction the 'Middle East' was heading and decided to stop Brack Obama in Syria.

I have yet to fully comprehend exactly what Brack Obama, Hillry Clinton and the two so called Republican boobs lord McCain and Lacy Graham intend to gain.. I see nothing but chaos, and mass destruction. Unfortunately, these people have no credibility in complaining about anything the Russians have done or might be getting ready to do... even though I think there is plenty for sane, civil, lawful people, to be in opposition to Russian practices.

The Russians were in bed with Iran, helping Iran build their 'nuclear' dreams power plant. Now who is shipping boat loads of cash to Iran? None of this makes any logical sense... I wonder what it is we are NOT being told.

I do not believe for one second, the mentality of the Russian leadership, is any different than was under Soviet Communism. Putin has become 'god' of Russia and he rules with an iron fist.

IF Russia had hacked Hillry's bathroom server, they would have kept silent, and owned the bitch.

Thomas Rid has an article in Esquire claiming to definitively prove that the Russians were behind the Dem hack, which is being used by the Left to justify their claims. Just found an article by a fellow named Jeffrey Carr disputing everything that Rid claims, and he provides a lot of insight into the nitty-gritty world of hacking. He shows us the shadow world of the hackers, with the labyrinths and corridors of approach that shield the attackers. These hacks could have been made by anyone. I suspect our own Intel services. If DHS could hack the Republicans in GA, why not NSA hacking the Dems?

Do you have a link to the Carr article? Russia has been our “bad” guy all my 68 years. Long ago I did not understand the corruption in our own government too as many still don’t, so it is easy for people like Clinton, Obama etc. to use the Russians as scapegoats when convenient.

Fake news byotch Joy Behar, thinks Russia is still the USSR. She missed Mr Gorbachev tearing down that wall and the Soviet Union falling apart. Thinks Putin will get Trump to put hammer and sickle on the American flag.

Winston Churchill said, “Nations do not have friends. Nations have common interests.” We tend to see Russia as the bad guy because, for business or political reasons, they play the diplomacy game against the US. When the US imposes sanctions for its political ends this creates a potentially profitable business situation for Russia. Either they don’t care what the US’s political aims are or they have their own aims. They sell whatever we won’t and get back much more profit or advantage than if they were just making a business deal in the absence of sanctions.

If the US has decided on regime change in Syria, suddenly Assad is very amenable to everything his Russian supporters want. For their support they get a long term lease on a Mediterranean port and air and army bases from which to project power or counter the US on the world’s chess board.

For the last eight years the Russians have played chess at a very high level while Obama played Tiddlywinks.

I don't, as I stumbled across it at o’dark-thirty while I was catching up on my John Bachelor podcasts. I just did a google search on the Thomas Ridd article in Esquire, and then a search for criticism of Ridd’s work. It wasn't then hard to turn up Jeffrey Carr, which was exactly what I was hoping for, as he outlines some of the hacker methodologies. As for Russia, they are frenemies for sure, but we have more common interests with them now than the muzzies or chicoms. We partnered with Stalin, and Putin is no Stalin.

FYI, I went to Russia in the early 70s. I have to say there is an unsettling parallel between Sovietspeak and what passes for news in our own country. People now have the same derision for the NYT and CNN that the Soviets had for Pravda when I was in the USSR.

Why Russia ..??

That’s easy .. because there is probably no way to prove or dis-prove any accusation re computer stuff.

Russia is the EASY scapegoat.
