Do you have a link to the Carr article? Russia has been our “bad” guy all my 68 years. Long ago I did not understand the corruption in our own government too as many still don’t, so it is easy for people like Clinton, Obama etc. to use the Russians as scapegoats when convenient.

I don't, as I stumbled across it at o’dark-thirty while I was catching up on my John Bachelor podcasts. I just did a google search on the Thomas Ridd article in Esquire, and then a search for criticism of Ridd’s work. It wasn't then hard to turn up Jeffrey Carr, which was exactly what I was hoping for, as he outlines some of the hacker methodologies. As for Russia, they are frenemies for sure, but we have more common interests with them now than the muzzies or chicoms. We partnered with Stalin, and Putin is no Stalin.

FYI, I went to Russia in the early 70s. I have to say there is an unsettling parallel between Sovietspeak and what passes for news in our own country. People now have the same derision for the NYT and CNN that the Soviets had for Pravda when I was in the USSR.
