I was told that if dope was legal then it would get rid of smugglers, drug dealers, and all would be good.

But why? The Mexican drug cartels are rapidly losing sales to legal cannabis sellers in multiple states. That is not good news, because those Mexican drug cartels have to mostly import heroin and cocaine from beyond Mexico. The legalization of recreational use in California is going to be a GIGANTIC buzzkill for the cartels.

Old News to those on or near the border. The druggies have been using air cannons and catapults for years. The missiles when launched often weigh 50 or 60 pounds and if they hit someone on landing could quite easily kill them. Often they are launched at night so that not only will you not hear them coming you will also not see them. Cuidado!

“According to the report, the drug package was subsequently picked up by a couple of teenaged U.S. citizens who were then picked up themselves by border patrol.”
Ha, those teens would have been the most popular kids in school, if it weren’t for that meddlin’ border patrol!

We should catch them, light them on fire with gasoline and shoot them back.

This sounds like small, penny-ante stuff.
I bet that while independent operators have to resort to schemes like this, Cartel trucks and containers sail across the border unopened.
