Jason Kander Says Democrats Accidentally Divided the Country (Good analogy)
The Ringer ^ | December 9, 2016

Posted on 12/11/2016 1:55:02 AM PST by 2ndDivisionVet

Remember Jason Kander? He’s the former senatorial candidate from Missouri who went viral after running a campaign ad that featured him putting together an assault rifle — blindfolded. He ended up losing, but he made the race more competitive than it was expected to be, falling to Republican incumbent Roy Blunt by just 3.2 percentage points. Now, he joins Keepin’ It 1600 to talk with Jon Favreau and Dan Pfeiffer about why he thinks the Democrats’ closing argument to Americans was ineffective and where the party must go from here.

Listen to the full podcast here. This transcript has been edited and condensed.

How the Democrats Sent the Wrong Message

Jason Kander: I think that accidentally, Democrats around the country wound up sort of dividing the country and provided a lane for Donald Trump to run into. I’ll explain that by way of an analogy. So imagine you’re a juror in a trial and it’s closing arguments. And the first lawyer comes out and gives about a 10-minute, very passionate closing argument with a real central theme as to why you should [decide in favor of] their client. Now sometimes, this lawyer wanders off and is kind of incoherent. And oftentimes [that lawyer] is offensive. But at the end of it, you know why that lawyer wants every member, all 12 members of that jury, to find for their client.

Then the next lawyer comes up, and the next lawyer, in front of the entire jury, goes juror by juror and individually makes a very customized and very compelling and very scientific case to each juror as to why that juror should find for that lawyer’s client. And very conspicuously, [that lawyer] skips about three of the jurors. Just kind of figures, “Hey, I’m in a state where the rule is you need nine out of 12 in a civil trial,” so they say, “Well, I only need nine.” So [the lawyer] skips three of them, and the whole jury sees that. Well, at the end of those arguments, the jury is going to go, “Well, I see what they’re saying to me, but I also see that they said something very different to every other juror, and that they skipped those other three, and by the way, those three aren’t voting for [that lawyer].” [The jury is] going to really question the authenticity of the argument that was made to them, and they’re going to have a hard time remembering exactly why it is that they’re supposed to find for that client.

And so that to me is the big difference. And I’m not just talking about the presidential [election]. I think up and down the ballot, that has happened. And one of the things we did well in our race is that whether it was in a rural area or in an urban area, I didn’t have to change my message because I had a basically progressive message. For instance, I would be in downtown Kansas City, doing a press conference with janitors who deserved a raise, talking about the minimum wage, and then I would go to a very rural part of the state and I’d still talk about the minimum wage. But people understood that I had a core set of beliefs — and that’s really what voters are looking for...

Democrats Accidentally Divided the Country

Seems to me it was on purpose. they thought they had enough brainwashed children to allow them to be overt in their contempt for America. They sorely miscalculated, because it takes more than numbers to win the Presidency, it takes numbers in the right states.

On purpose?
Nope, I like the miscalculation scenario. BBut scriptures will tell you that “he that diggeth a pit, falleth therein.

They were confounded by their own deceit.

Open the borders to millions of illegal foreigners and then tell the citizens that the foreigners should have every right to stay, take jobs meant for Americans and be able to collect welfare and other benefits?

That right their divides Americans.

No. they repeatedly got in my face. They actively did not want my vote because they saw me as more valuable as an enemy. Obama’s foreign and domestic policies were intended to harm working class people with a Christian morality. BLM is in the face of everyone not hip hop hood rat black. Foreign policy is pro Muslim / European socialist. In my face again.

They are after power and it’s not “people power”. They are about as anti American and anti democratic as they can get.

does that sound like wisdom? Biblical wisdom? Why yes it does. Therefore the atheists know nothing about it, only fleeting head knowledge. Mostly junk at that.

I knew an atheist that was fixated on becoming wealthy several years ago.I told him the bible had more than 2000 verses about money in it (took the Crown Financial course years ago) and talks about how to generate wealth and become prosperous. He took the bait and emded up coming to our church. He's now one of the sound engineers in our booth and on the way to becoming a deacon...: )

It was pure hubris and arrogance. These people are clustered together INFESTING large cities with their own kind. They breathe, eat, sleep, work and talk to their own kind and they live in areas that are necessarily inured by government largess, programs and entitlements. They are reinforced constantly by media and entertainment THEY are the true America, and they are lied to by their politicians and government officials telling them nothing but fantasy.

Very, very few of them actually know anything about the rest of America except what some stereotyping bigot told them to think.

A dozen highly infested rat cities do not a country make.

We have them out here in the country, too. And they still cluster w/their own and are haughty and condescending know-it-alls. And right now, they are mad as h3ll and wound so tight they are ready to explode.

Main rant of the moment: emails are hacked and hacked means fake. You cannot explain a thing to them because HuffPo told them The Truth.

There is nothing accidental about it. Their strategy is “divide and conquer.”

Now, if they were to ever look at why they lost, why they cannot get support, that might be worrisome. Fortunately, they seem incapable of the kind of introspection it takes to figure out how to set oneself back on course.

We’ve had eight years of it.
It was not accidental, Jason.

For sure......the Obamanation has just gotten started under the Royal Idiot....he expected Hillary to finish the job. Too bad Obama has a habit of raining on Hillary's parade.

Hillary's debates came off looking good and she looked good after the convention. But her campaign fell off a cliff, after Obama gave her a push.

Obama's burnishing his legacy is all he ever thinks about b/c it means big bucks for his foundations.

So his sap-happy "I'm Great" messaging forced Hillary to follow his lead and run for a third Obama term. She no longer ran on change, she ran on Obama's continued progressiveness in a country crying for change.

She lost the election in the final two weeks because of avoidable things like Obama embracing her that sent the electorate a frightening message.

The Royal Idiot's ringing endorsement of Hillary meant many people had moved over to the Trump side.

CAUTION: prolonged viewing causes violent retching.

"I flacked her on AF One and she lost four points.
This frickin' faked pose oughta be good for a point."

And a bit delusional like all leftists
"And I also think that there’s a pretty good percentage that thinks that he might be kind of corrupt, that there are a lot of conflicts of interest here."
How can a person possibly say that about Trump and not Hillary?

His analogy is incorrect: the second lawyer didn't just skip three jurors.

He told the other nine jurors that those three really did it, and whipped up ethnic hatred against them.

That would be a more apt analogy.
