In an exclusive interview with Resistance Feed, a Tampa, FL police officer provided new details on the story that has circulated about Navy veteran and Trump supporter Matthew Smiths home being burned down by Black Lives Matter activists. He also confirmed if some of the details in other reports that have circulated are, in fact, true.
Reports have circulated on new media websites concerning the latest victim of a crime of hate. Our interview with a Tampa, Florida police officer who spoke with us under the demands of anonymity, confirmed that the case is not a hoax, that it occurred and the mainstream media should be reporting the story, but very few have.
Interview with Tampa, FL Police Officer
The following is our exclusive interview with who we will call Tampa Officer X:
Rhett October: Some websites have posted a version of a story about a veteran named Matthew Smith whose home in Tampa being vandalized and burned down with anti-Trump graffiti on walls and nearby houses, is that true?
Tampa Officer X: Yes, but there have been three homes, one of them a trailer, vandalized and/or destroyed in the area this month and it appears to be the same person or group. There is evidence that it was a group. Two of those homes were in Plant City, which is just outside of Tampa, and one was in Tampa.
Rhett October: And the graffiti?
Tampa Officer X: Yes, there was a large amount of graffiti. In the case of the trailer, which was a vacation home of sorts, it said, F*** Trump, Black Lives Matter, Burn Everything, Not my prez. And it was written on the adjacent trailer, pointing to the trailer that was burned and vandalized.
Rhett October: So all the homes that were burned and/or vandalized, apparently by the same group, had graffiti?
Tampa Officer X: The trailer, which was the summer home, did. One of the other homes did as well. The one owned by the Veteran had graffiti that said, f*** cracker, f*** Trump, f*** yo kids. They also ransacked the place, breaking dishes, knocking over their Christmas tree and attempting to set fire to it but it didnt burn very long.
Rhett October: It has been reported that the childs bed was burned. Is that true?
Tampa Officer X: A crib, yes.
Rhett October: Disturbing. Since the word cracker was used in the graffiti, which is a racist term against white people, this would be a hate crime. Right?
Tampa Officer X: Thats not my call.
Rhett October: But it should be, since its racially motivated. Do you agree? Remember, youre anonymous.
Tampa Officer X: I agree. But the only people who seem to get to have the hate crime label are blacks and homosexuals. If the hate crime designation is going to be applied to certain racially motivated crimes, Id say it should be applied to any crime that has a racial motivation. Whats fair for one should be fair for the other. But thats not politically correct.
Rhett October: Can you say if he was home when the vandalism started?
Tampa Officer X: He was not there.
Rhett Otober: So since the graffiti said, Black Lives Matter, do investigators believe it was by that group? Or just sympathizers?
Tampa Officer X: Technically, there is no Black Lives Matter group. They are organized like a four-year-olds toy box. But the arsons were, apparently, sympathizers.
Rhett Otober: Why do you think mainstream media outlets arent reporting this story?
Tampa Officer X: Well some local media has reported on it, but they werent as thorough as you. They didnt seem to want to report that the graffiti said Black Lives Matter, or that it was anti-Trump.
Rhett Otober: Why is that?
Tampa Officer X: You know why. It isnt politically correct. It doesnt fit the picture theyve tried to paint for everyone that Trump supporters are the violent, racist ones. It is what it is.
The Navy vet, Matthew Smith is quoted in a local paper as saying, Its not what I expected out of America. It should be us figuring problems out together. Smith flew three flags in front of the home: the American flag, the POW flag, and the Navy flag.
His wife, Brittany, pointed out that the family had done nothing publicly to show their support of Donald Trump.
To say this is disturbing, is putting it mildly.
Has anyone started a “GoFundMe” for these folks?
As a matter of fact the officer said that they had started one. It’s here - https://www.gofundme.com/navy-veteran-fire-relief?ssid=831189536&pos=1
I’m going to add that to the report so people can help him.
Thanks for doing the interview. And thanks for posting your whole article.
I appreciate it. I just hope they catch the low-lifes who did this and that the Smiths can recover financially very quickly. I hope they had fire insurance and that the GoFundMe page gives them lots of help.
Hehe. That’s some name you got there, RHETT.
Welcome to FR. Hopefully you’ll be more than a blogpimp.
So you have an anonymous interview done by a pseudonym.
And it reads like you were talking to yourself.
Tell me - Does your press credential pocket thingy say “Rhett October” with your picture on it?
None of the “real” media is covering this. It must be “fake” news.
I made the phone call today to someone I know who is a police officer in Tampa. Feel free to fact check it for yourself. Other outlets will catch on. I quoted him.
He also said that he thinks it’s tied to a BLM sympathizing group who vandalized other homes back in September.
getting REAL sick of your BS blog pimping! You need to go away.
I'll get right on that.
I'll just dial up the Tampa Police and ask to speak with "Officer X."
Of course I'm just foolin' with you.
I know in real life his name is "Officer Well-Placed Sources."
“getting REAL sick of your BS blog pimping! You need to go away.”
I bitched about this a week or so ago——but gave up.
I don’t get it.
.
.
Well so far Mr. October (That’s like “Mr. September, but late) has had most of his stuff moved to “Bloggers” and a few of his threads have gotten the Zot.
Most recently he had one pulled for some thinly disguised re-wording of another person’s story, which he also conveniently forgot to cite as source.
Is it plagiarism?
Let’s just say that Rhett October has a lot in common with Joe Biden’s Law Review articles and Milli Vanilli.
Not well placed, just lucky I knew someone in that town. And lucky he was willing to tell me things. But he also said that the same information was available to other media sources if they were interested in asking for the information. So you could probably call and tell them you are with Free Republic and want to report on the BLM vandalism and they’d tell you the same information he gave me - just without the political opinion on hate crimes.
I posted the entire thing here at Free Republic. No blog pimpin. I’ve seen posts today that used an excerpt to link to a website that had lifted the first few paragraphs and then linked to the original. And they did it in the news section. But I do exactly what the moderators tell me to do and post the full content in the blog section and you troll on me. Don’t you have better things to do?
Yep, and they made no mention of “Black Lives Matter,” being one of the things painted in graffiti. I wonder if Matthew said that but they didn’t air it. Also note that they don’t mention that police think this is the same group who vandalized and burned other homes in September. They actually didn’t talk to any police in that report. I wonder why they didn’t do a follow up with police who investigated. Well, I did.
