The fact of the matter is that we don’t have a black president now (or will not have in January) and Van’s input isn’t really relevant any more. His racial identity politics have been subsumed by matters that affect us all, regardless of color, and what this country needs to prosper for all.

Because Clinton over-performed in blue areas with a high population density. Clinton's faux "margin of victory" would have been completely eliminated without California. The differential is even worse if you look at the results by county or congressional district.

And this points out the wisdom of the Electoral College and the folly of the popular vote: a Presidential candidate can't campaign or propose policy just for places where there is a high density of votes.
This is effectively what Hillary did, and it's why she lost.
The Democrats see everything through the prism of victimhood (racism, sexism, xenophobia, etc.) so they only see the world as a collection of victims and victimizers.
