President-elect Donald Trump issued the following statement on the incident today on the Ohio State University campus.
“Watching the news unfold at Ohio State University. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of the students and administration,” Trump posted on his Facebook account.
“Excellent job by the Ohio State University Emergency Management Team (@OSU_EMFP) in immediately notifying students & faculty via social media with the message: “Buckeye Alert: Active Shooter on campus. Run Hide Fight. Watts Hall. 19th and College.”
He added: “THANK YOU to all FIRST RESPONDERS who reacted immediately.”

I like the advice (rare for a recommended emergency response to violence). I would probably prefer that order for myself. I don't want to be a hero; I don't want to face a crazy person willing to die to make headlines. I want the police/SWAT to do that job. I'll run rather than stay if I have time to get away. I'll hide someplace the jihadi/lunatic might not look rather than fight. And I'll fight rather than cower if confrontation is unavoidable, attacking before the predator is ready to fire, if possible.
The reason active shooters kill so many is because people have been socialized to not fight back. Violence needs to be met with immediate, and greater, violence to stop it.

Funny out of all the ‘values’ these people dis from the 30s 40s 50s and 60s the ONLY one that all appear to embrace is the Cowboy hero & his ‘ability’ to shoot a gun out of his opponents hand.
Always got a kick in the ‘chase through the badlands’ with the good guys riding through a canyon with their ‘900 shot’ pistols blazing away picking off the riflemen nestled on the higher ground not being able to hit anything.
I like pulling out the appropriate concealed weapon and firing the appropriate number of shots. There have been many posts on FREEREPUBLIC over the years about what the appropriate concealed weapon is.

Agreed. Run, hide, or fight. Everyone visible, within shooting range, and not fast enough to outrun a bullet needs to fight.
