Indeed he did--but it's apples and oranges. Gore had called Bush to concede and was on his way to do so publicly, when Daley, I believe, told him the FL was too close to call so the public concession in front of all the cameras didn't happen.

Whereas Hillary has a much more difficult situation here; not only did she make the phone call, but she also did the public concession as well. The visual and psychological impact of that is indelible and potent. Also, whereas Bush never was president-elect until *after* the whole recount mess was settled, Trump IS president-elect and has been for over 2 weeks now. The psychological heft of Hillary on tv conceding AND Trump being president-elect for awhile now is powerful and works a lot to his advantage which Bush didn't have going for him.

Maybe they're hanging on to the fact that Jill Stein never "conceded". Which is probably why the Clinton camp is pushing her efforts sotto voce?

Al Gore only conceded to Bush privately. He never conceded publicly, he recanted his concession shortly after the private concession to Bush. So while technically he did concede and pull back, he did so almost immediately, where as Clintoon conceded both privately and publicly almost 2 full weeks ago.

I'm certainly not a recount legal expert, and I appreciate the detail you provide, but I'm not seeing how the fact that Hillary conceded is a legal impediment to these recounts.

At least not in Wisconsin, where the recount request has been accepted and is apparently now being implemented.

I don’t think that Hillary will un-concede. While legally I don’t think there is anything stopping her from doing so (until EC Vote), I think she if fully aware of the ramifications if she tries to pull something like that. While her political career is basically dead, she still technically has her daughters political career that she can attach herself to (if she lives long enough to see it). Trying to back pedal back into the race would completely destroy any chance of the Clinton name continuing in politics. The Clintons know full well that the recount isn’t going to change anything, if they could, they would have spearheaded the recounts and wouldn’t have hidden in the shadows.

I was doing some back of the napkin math (this time correctly if you saw my post from yesterday):

the delta is about +25,000 in WI. They will need to flip that much and probably at least 10,000 more to seal the deal. Remember, recounts are NOT re-audits. They are recounting votes that were cast, irrespective of how the vote got there.

With both sides monitoring I doubt that they can find THAT many miscounted votes. A few hundred, maybe a thousand just do the laws of chaos, but that is about it.

And PA is no longer in play, from what I hear.

To people who know better, it doesn’t matter what she does. But to those that are on the fence with her or don’t know, it is easy to manipulate it as she had nothing to do with it and it is just an after thought. It’s all to ensure that the Clintons stay in the political spotlight. So that Chelsea can “continue to carry the torch”. She can appease her constituents by going along with it but knowing that it won’t make a difference.
