Vladimir Putin's Campaign to Seduce, Subvert and Screw Over Western Democracies?Including Ours

The Kremlin has the message and the cash to sweet talk every segment of the Western population, and we're falling for it.

Perhaps this seems like crazy neo-Cold War paranoia. High-tech spookery hiding behind onion domes on the Left Bank? Yet almost anything seems possible at a time when Putin has been using every conceivable means at his disposal to extend Russian influence and disrupt or discredit Western democracy in Europe, and, indeed, in the United States.

If there is a new cold war chill, it’s coming from the east. Putin, faced with a badly flagging economy and potential domestic discontent, is actively preparing his people for nuclear Armageddon, while in the United States, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, an avowed admirer of Putin’s “leadership,” warns that Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton’s talk about standing up to him will lead to “World War III.”

As The Economist pointed out last week, inside Russia,“The two main pillars of the Soviet state, propaganda and the threat of repression, have been restored.” The infamous KGB, which was humiliated and broken up 25 years ago “has been rebuilt as the main vehicle for political and economic power.” Meanwhile, “reactionary restoration at home has led to aggression abroad,” with hybrid warfare against Georgia and Ukraine, and intimidation of the little Baltic states. All this even as Moscow has “attempted to undermine Euro-Atlantic institutions, backed right-wing parties in Europe" and, as the The Economist, too, avers, “tried to meddle in America’s presidential elections.”

This tale of over-arching conspiracy by a great evil Putin is becoming rather creepy. Since when they became so McCarthyite, to borrow their cliché, seeing Putin's evil handiwork in every rising political opposition to their power? This article clearly explains the mindset which is turning Putin into a great evil to be crushed, in order to preserve their hold on power. With this mentality permeating corridors of power in the West, it could easily lead to head-on confrontation with Russia.

By the way, this Hénin fellow featured in the article shared his really "bright idea" to defeat ISIS, which is comical: Take in more refugees and stop all airstrikes, then ISIS will melt away.

Nicolas Henin interview: The man who was held captive by Isis for 10 months describes how they can be defeated

Whatever Putin is, this level of obession with him is unnerving. Sure KGB machine can do a lot, but they try to lump everthing they hate as part of KGB ploy. It seems that there is nothing they had done wrong. It is all fault of Putin and his useful idiots in the West. Hello, do we have to welcome the lberals to the rank of Cold Warriors? I thought that they detested the idea.

It is the Obama administration who are responsible for the resurgence of Russian power.

Remember the “Reset” button?

Remember Obama cancelling the treaties and missile defense system in eastern Europe.

This is all the Obama administration’s fault.

Once you UNDERSTAND the games that are behind the headlines, it will all make sense.

The US gov't and the Demorat Party have to bury the truth. For Hussein's agenda to continue, Hillary must be elected. No matter how much election fraud it takes, no matter how many lies are told, Hillary has to be the one.

Anybody who even considers much less concludes it was the Russians is an idiot. HELLO PRESSTITUTES! We are learning most of you are liars.

Wasn’t McCarthy pretty much right about the extent of the commie infiltration?

Not as creepy as it is dumb.

DUMB!

Putin is certainly interested in who will become our next president.

But he is much much more interested in what he can glean from secret state department emails; references to US plans in the Middle East, names of US undercover agents, pending agreements, treaties, etc.

These are the things that will allow him to shape his strategy most effectively.

The argument that he hacks us because Trump is his man are just plain stupid.

Yeah, Getting sick and tired of Russia being called the boogiman every time politicians need to divert attention away from their own problems. The USA has pulled some pretty crappy shenanigans as well in the name of liberty when in reality it was only about the Benjamins.

I agree, but now seeing the left projecting the same thing to us and Putin, I find it hilarious.

I meant to point out that when Hillary repeats over and over that the Russians hacked us for political purposes, she is emphasizing the fact that the Russians have read classified documents, courtesy of Hillary Clinton.

Putin has to be laughing at her stupidity.

Who needs Putin for that? Democrats are already doing it themselves.

Don’t discount the Russian influence— look how they manipulated Anthony Weiner to text underage girls and selfie his private areas. I smell the fingerprints of the Kremlin.

McCarthy was right, and in the 1980s they were doing the same thing, for sure in Germany and elsewhere. But this isn’t now, and leftists everywhere in the world used to think the USA was the bad superpower and the USSR was the benign one. They never blamed the Russians back then (Soviets) for meddling ANYWHERE. And all of it was meddling, all the conflicts were proxies. But no newspaper would have ever said so.

The biggest enemy in the world today isn’t Russia. We’d do well to remember we Westerners had better stick together or there won’t be any West.

Right we should believe a conspiracy by Putin with not a shred of evidence but ignore the wide spread documented Clinton corruption.
