No competition allowed for hoteliers and unions. They give a lot of money to Democrats.
We often hear that Democrats are set up for a decades-long political dynasty in this country because of demographics. They own the Millennial vote and theyll continue to own it for as long as Millennials are around.
Maybe. But theres a reason people tend to become more conservative as they get older, and it usually has to do with the fact that they have to go out and tackle real responsibility. Once they do, they often realize that Democrats are not their friends - unless, of course, they become part of an influential pressure group or segment of society that has become expert at manipulating public policy to its benefit.
I don’t favor Airbnb or hoteliers. What I care about is excessive government regulation. Preventing people from using their property as they see fit should have very few restrictions and is mostly none of the government’s business.
Reasonable restrictions would be things like using your property in a residential neighborhood as a hazardous waste site.
Unreasonable: Telling people what color they are allowed to paint the front door.
You know, if property taxes weren’t so freaking high, people would not be so desperate to rent out their homes in order to recover some of that cost.
I know a rabid Hillary supporter who has an Airbnb business, ha! Idiots. They want to make the money and think liberalism means making money and getting women... They are in for a jail of a surprise.
I don’t use Airbnb because it doesn’t come out any cheaper for me when I go to NYC because of the high cleaning fees but freedom of choice is a basic right of being a free people and this is just another example of the criminal bureaucracy in action.
In this instance NY City is right because of their rent control laws and renters rights as well. Why should a landlord who gets below market rate rents have renters sublet (illegally) at higher rates? Why should a tenant or condo owner have their security or property jeopardized by unvetted airbnbers? (Yes I know the irony is thick enough to be laid on with a trowel in lib-lousy NYC)
And the #1 question in responses should *always* be: 1) What is ‘reasonable’ 2) Whom defines?
For, if one is restricted from from doing XYZ w/ their property, let alone being TAXED over and over, it AIN’T *THEIRS* to begin, no?
No worries - the city has become so dangerous under its socialist overlord that nobody wants to go there anyway. Problem will solve itself.
I will never use airbnb, and would discourage others from giving them any business for their strong stance on “standing with refugees”. They were advertising all over Twitter for a while. I hope they go out of business.
