Until the GOP stands up, I don’t think we should be whining about Obamacare.
Just saying. If we had an alternative, I would say go ahead, but the entire GOP is out to lunch on this subject.

What we had before ObamaCare was significantly better (understatement). I don't accept the premise an alternative was required. Just kill ObamaCare.

The system of insurance we had prior to Obamacare was a dream compared to now. My family out of pocket was a lot lower and my premiums were under 10000 per year. Now as a self employed person I pay triple for the insurance (because as self employed Obamacare does not allow my company to provide insurance I have to use after tax dollars to pay premiums coupled with the huge increase).
Most people don't need insurance. They just need a reasonably priced Heart attack, stroke, cancer policy. The rest of their health care can be covered by their primary for a reasonable price. For people who don't work there was always Medicaid.
What did Obamacare really solve. Nothing! You are one layoff away from no insurance. If you get a stroke and can't work guess what you will have no insurance under Obamacare in about a year. Your spouse works so you're OK? You're one divorce away from no insurance. Obamacare was just about creating a dependent electorate that will vote for the guy that promises to help them.
