GHW Bush ought to be a revered senior statesman of our party, and does sort of hold that title by default, so there is an ill effect, albeit a negligible one.
I didn’t vote for Perot, he had too many ethical problems. I absolutely couldn’t vote for H.W. either, his Islamist leanings had become too clear during his administration and he refused to let all those Chinese engineers fleeing Hong Kong come to the US.
In the end, I voted for Alan Keyes. That was when and how I first found this site.

I know it’s unpopular here but GHWB is a heroic American and great leader over many decades and a very nice man as well. He’s undeniably a war hero. But the Bush legacy is crashing down now. W plainly ruined his own, Jeb is a joke.
George Sr. and Jr. have ruined what should have been a fabulous Reagan legacy. Trump is far more in the spirit of Reagan than either of them. It is now up to Trump to restore the party and the nation.

I was very late realizing the Bush clan were traitors to our side but my first inkling was when the matriarch Barbara attacked Sarah Palin. Since then they have all gone down hill in my estimation and this if it is true is just another confirmation and a new low for them.
I voted for GHWB, I voted for GWB, but I’m starting to think that July 16, 1980 — the day that Reagan got buffaloed into taking GHWB as his running mate — was a truly dark day in the history of our republic.
