Gary Johnson's debate prospects dim
POLITICO ^ | 09/14/2016 | Steven Shepard

Gary Johnson’s hopes of earning an invitation to the Sept. 26 debate are all but extinguished.

The door is about to close on Gary Johnson.

The nonpartisan Commission on Presidential Debates has set a “mid-September” deadline for Johnson and the other third-party candidates to meet three criteria to qualify for the first debate later this month: “evidence of constitutional eligibility,” “evidence of ballot access” and “indicators of electoral support.”

Johnson clearly meets the first two qualifications: A two-term former governor of New Mexico, Johnson is a citizen and older than 35 years of age. And the Johnson campaign said Wednesday that he’ll be on the ballot in all 50 states and the District of Columbia, meaning he’s eligible to win all 538 electoral votes at stake on November 8.

But on the third qualification, Johnson falls short, and it isn’t particularly close. The commission says he must be polling at 15 percent in five major, national polls, “using the average of those organizations' most recent publicly-reported results at the time of the determination.”

As of Wednesday afternoon, Johnson is at only 9 percent, according to a POLITICO estimate.

We don’t need him in there simply for pure optics. Trump has had the center podium all election season. I understand she will flank him, but you know if Johnson is there they will give her the center and demote Trump as Johnson’s equal in a wing slot.

Johnson is a citizen and older than 35 years of age
***************************

The Constitutional standard is not citizen, it is natural born citizen.

The Kenyanesian Usurpation was brought to you by BOTH parties.

The Constitution says natural born citizen.
That means one who is naturally an American because they couldn’t be anything else, born here of citizen parents.
Everyone in DC wanted that changed without the hassle of amending the Constitution.
The Senate passed a resolution declaring McCain a natural born citizen because he had TWO citizen parents, even though he was born in Panama.
Then Obama runs and wins based on just being born here, even though he told us on his website he was born a British subject.
So the standard went from born here of citizen parents to just TWO citizen parents to just being born here in one election cycle without amending the Constitution.
This was done intentionally because Rubio (no citizen parents), Cruz (foreign birth, one citizen parent), Jindal (no citizen parents), and Haley (no citizen parents) were all ineligible and the future of the GOP.

The truth of the Kenyanesian Usurpation will never see the light of day because they all cooperated in the violation of the Constitution.

Amazingly the N.H. Onion Breeder, er, Union Leader endorsed pothead Johnson and tipsy Weld. NH may only have 4 EV or so but in a close election...Many comments on the endorsement are on their site.

I don't think anybody gives a crap who The Dallas Morning News and The New Hampshire Union Leader leader endorse. No one's vote will change based on that.

There is no upside at all for the Dems or the Repubs to include Johnson in the debates. They fight to protect the status quo.

BTW, Ross Perot was polling around 8 percent nationally when he was “allowed” to debate.

“Non-partisan Committee on Presidential Debates...” Lol

Johnson and Weld are no libertarians.

Their only function is to throw sand in Trump’s gears. If Johnson was to appear onstage, he and Witch would tag-team up against Trump

Personally, they might get more of the potential Witch-vote than the Trump-vote.

Ross Perot got nearly a fifth of the national vote in 1992.

Somehow I don't see Gary Johnson doing that. In fact, I would bet he doesn't crack 3%, as I simply cannot see Johnson beating Ralph Nader's 2.7% in the 2000 election.

Isn’t interesting how this guy thinks being a libertarian means flooding the country with reliable Democrat voters and filling the supreme court with anti gun extremists. That just sound like progressive liberalism to me.

Perot played the role in ‘92 that Trump is playing this year.

With the exception of MJ legalization, Johnson is pretty close ideologically to Romney, McCain, and GWB. Trump is a rejection of their brand of “conservatism”.

If Perot had somehow gotten the GOP nomination in ‘92, there would have been a third party rump GOP candidate run as a spoiler. There would have been a #NeverPerot movement and a concerted effort to tar him as a bigot, racist, fascist, etc. He was never a serious threat to anyone but GHWB, so such an effort was unnecessary.

“We don’t want or need such a useless diversion”

Maybe a useless diversion would be a good idea. If Illery has a presumptive diagnosis of Parkinsonism, and the fact that she wore glasses to protect herself from certain visual stimulation, the presence of a goof like Johnson would likely create more confusion and could lead to a brain freeze or similar Parkinson’s event for hitlery. Having 2 other people on the stage would contribute to confusion and overtly unmask her illness.

I’ll take odds on that. I’m thinking at least 10 percent of the popular vote
