"Our media culture often mocks and demeans people of faith, whose values of love, charity and faith built this nation.
Republican candidate Donald Trump pledged at the Values Voter Summit in Washington, D.C., to repeal the Johnson Amendment.
Were gonna get rid of it, Trump said.
I figure its the only way Ill get into heaven, he quipped.
The Johnson Amendment is a circa 1954 amendment to the U.S. tax code that blocked tax-exempt organizations from endorsing or opposing political candidates. Evangelicals and other people of faith object to the law because it prevents churchesalong with other tax-exempt institutionsfrom political organizing.

After all, if CAIR can mouth off about US policies and elections, why not other religious groups?
To: Sean_Anthony
This is an irritating law that is broken without penalty by POS liberal churches, but if a conservative church does so, the IRS will come down on it.

Trump will not get to heaven by changing our laws. He gets to heaven by repenting of his sins, and accepting Jesus into his life (if he hasn’t already).
To: Sean_Anthony
He’s funny, sincere and an admitted sinner. I like him.

Boy, are you a bucket of cold water. The Donald admits he’s imperfect and you give him a prissy rebuke. Look to your own sins as I look to mine.

And that’s what gives Christians their stereotype. He was being amusing and I thought he succeeded.

You might want to look up the word “quipped”.

Yup.
Some people just won’t accept that the Trumpster is a good guy. Funny, sincere, and on occasion, modest, lol!

Beg your pardon? Tlk about a bucket of cold water yourself! I like Trump a lot. But yes, someone who claims that if they do this, that or the other to get to heaven is wrong. Oh, also Christians are supposed to correct other Christians.
To: Sean_Anthony
Doesn’t the Clinton Foundation fall under these rules?
