Indians are very aware of the threat fundamentalist Islam poses - the Islamic conquest of India killed an estimated 100 million back when that nation only had 300-400 million people. So many died that the Hindu Kush mountains received that name, meaning Hindu Killer for how many Hindu slaves died going over the mountains to Muslim slave markets.

No surprise. It was a friend from India that told me about a new radio talk show host that I should listen to, back in the 1980s. The host had a weird name, Rush Limbaugh.

Most likely Sikhs from Indian Punjab, there are barely a handful of them in Pakistan.

Unusual though the ones you know may be an exception, most Sikhs fled the area of Pakistani Punjab during partition. The population was almost completely ethnically cleansed, not more than 20,000 exist in the whole of Pakistan compared to 20 million in India (the opposite migration was equally complete, there are almost no Punjabi Muslims in Indian Punjab)

You are right! After I read your last comment I got together w two Punjab brothers and their uncle today and got myself set straight. Their family came here from India as merchants (as well as soldiers) just over 100 years ago ...

Tomorrow they are bringing their family military history which they are very proud of.
