The diary of a Yankee farmer who stopped writing after 20 years in about 1795, was analyzed for equivalence to professions, in the range of tasks he accomplished.
It was found that in that 20 year period, he practiced 200 separate crafts, from wheelrighting to coopering, probably a fair amount of small-scale blacksmithy.
Where do you find this today? When something breaks down on the farm, the first stop isn't the NAPA, it's your own machine shop.
A clue is that the county west of Sacramento which has UC Davis close by, Yolo County, has the highest proportion, percentage of county land in agricultural production, in the nation. That county would have the best, not university level ag ed, because it's not rocket surgery, their shining light of ag ed would be in their high schools and their local state university.
Woodland Public Schools - Agricultural Education
Pioneer High School: Agriculture
Agriculture Education - College of Agriculture - CSU, Chico
Seems like Yolo has been overrun by surly unassimilated Mexicans too.
Another reason to stay away.
Only bad parents allow their children to attend UC Davis.
Crap. We had a farm. Evry farmer in the midwestcan do abut every trade.
