Melania Wronged

Do you think Michelle Obama (or Barack, for that matter) thinks it is the greatest privilege on planet Earth to be an American?

Like the millions who tuned in this week on the first night of the Republican convention in Cleveland to see Melania Trump’s speech, I was dazzled by her beauty, struck by her sincerity, impressed by her fluency in a language not of her native tongue, touched by her obvious love for her husband and family and country, and impressed by her quiet confidence and sense of self.

In a lengthy interview I had seen a few weeks earlier of Melania with Fox News’ Greta van Susteren, it was clear that the former super model—who is formally educated, multilingual, world-traveled, and the embodiment of sophistication—was unpretentious, of a serene temperament, plain-spoken, strong in her convictions and values, and also funny and nice. And also not interested in the spotlight, but more in raising her 10-year-old son Barron with good values and morals.

For me, the best part of the article was this:

Hinderaker continues: “Do you think Michelle Obama (or Barack, for that matter) thinks it is the greatest privilege on planet Earth to be an American? No, I don’t either. I suspect that one of Melania Trump’s principal objectives in her speech was to draw that contrast between herself and Mr. and Mrs. Obama.”***

I think this tempest in a teapot scandal is going to work to Trump’s advantage. Melania is going to be giving a lot of speeches between now and November and the MSM is going to have to cover every one of them and analyze everything she said so they can find something wrong with them. It will give her a lot of coverage and frankly that is going to backfire big time.

The last thing they really want to do is to put the spotlight on her.

This is not a new tactic from Hillary. It's how she won against Lazio..

Republicans Blew Their Chance to End Hillary Clinton's Career 15 Years Ago. Have They Learned Their Lesson?

On the evening of September 13, 2000, after his first debate with Hillary Clinton, Rick Lazio was feeling confident. Several polls had shown the Republican congressman ahead of the first lady in the race for New York's open Senate seat, and Lazio and his team felt the debate had bolstered his lead. He wasn't alone in this view. "The post-debate conventional wisdom was clear," Michael Tomasky wrote in Hillary's Turn, his account of the contest. "Lazio had won."

But Lazio and his allies were not taking into account a moment during the debate that was not immediately or widely recognized as being a problem for him.

This key exchange came at the end of the debate, when Lazio interrupted Clinton mid-sentence, walked across the stage with a campaign finance pledge in hand, and urged her to sign it. Clinton awkwardly tried to shake Lazio's hand as he towered over her, his finger wagging in her face. In the hours and days after the debate, Clinton's team worked mightily to turn this interaction to her advantage. Clinton aide Ann Lewis told the press that Lazio had "spent much of the time being personally insulting." Howard Wolfson, another veteran Clinton hand, said Lazio was "menacing" to Clinton.

"They saw this opportunity and they drove it and that's the clip that was on TV over and over again," Lazio says now. The next day, media outlets began to embrace Wolfson's portrayal of Lazio as a sexist bully. "In Your Face," proclaimed a headline in the Daily News. Jon Stewart titled his segment on the debate "Rodham 'N Creep." Eventually, the Clinton campaign's depiction became the dominant assessment. Lazio was "Darth Vader with dimples," Gail Collins wrote in the New York Times later that week. Clinton went on to win by 12 points.

Clinton team picks their point and the media explodes with it. She was never intimidated by Lazio yet played the victim through rest of election.

This article from the Canada Free Press (because without America, there is no free world) gives me a chance to digress. The constant barrage from the two Canadian monoliths in television went beyond mere news. Again and again the well known figures were concealing quite their gloating. This as Mrs. Trump was juxtaposed with Mrs. Obama. One has to be well versed in their tones and meaningful glances.

To cap it all and I quickly turned off the radio and CBC Radio One, there was sweet Carol Off. She was interviewing someone Stateside about the ramifications of the speech by Mrs. Trump.

The two Canadian television news outlets seem to be nothing but shills against Donald Trump. None of their business anyway.

I just recall that Michelle Obama’s speech was a bitter,
resentful diatribe mostly about how she “felt” back in
school, didn’t fit in at college. Also, how when Hussein
won it was the “first time she had ever been proud of the
country”; how she grew up “poor” and blah . . blah . .

Michelle’s screel bore NO resemblance to Melania Trump’s
great speech. - As I’ve said before, right after Melania’s
speech; when the camera panned back to the PBS talking
heads, they were ALL white as ghosts and just sputtering
with anger.
