Captain Obvious, to the rescue? I'm preaching to a choir well-stocked with captains, here on FR, I would guess.
Even those here not necessarily Christian could likely see the truth from within portions of Scripture, seeing and accepting as true the opening portion of Romans 6:23 though perhaps not having faith in the second half, regarding the free gift of God.

Western civilization, American civilization in particular (?) used to have better grasp of, and ongoing memory of the NT. But nowadays, that entire collection of writings seems to me to be often and increasingly spat upon and demonized when not delved into only superficially.

As stated by John Adams that the Constitution was made for a Moral and religious people, and as we now realize that the people are no longer moral and religious, then it follows that the Constitution is no longer an adequate vehicle for the government of this country!
What are the possible solutions? I don’t know. I ask you.
Is it to force morality and religion upon the people, as would be under a theocracy? If so, which form of religion would be chosen to dictate its values? Christianity?, Buddhism?, Islam?, Catholicism? Oh, the last one was tried out several centuries ago and didn’t work out too well. Trying to convert people who don’t want to be converted doesn’t work among a widely disparate cultural mix such as is in this country today. I see no common thread of interest among the tidal wave of imported cultures that have overwhelmed the traditional American culture of which John Adams spoke.
Then what to assure law and order? A benevolent dictator? Many factions of this fractured nation will see any such leader to be against their interests and would fight the perceived injustice. I see, we’re back to the present again.
Help me out folks I am old and know not!
I think it’s not true that Morality is upstream of Politics, but that Morality is upstream of Culture, which is upstream of Politics.
It really is sad to see what’s happening in our country right before our eyes.
My son who I raised to be respectful and to obey authority, now is a big supporter of BLM. We had a huge blow out debate about it tonight. Sadly it ended when he accused me and his mother as being the problem and now apparently we’re racists.
Two years at a liberal college that I pay for and this is what I get! Frustrated and very upset.
I hope we can put this behind us but, not feeling it right now.
WOW. He fell for the divide and govern Marxist (black lives matter, war on women, occupy wall street) meme. He’s now an enabler of an anti-truth, anti-freedom, anti-individual, anti-life collective.
NO LIVES MATTER to criminals, socialists, totalitarians. Witness history. Witness current events. ID the criminals, socialists, totalitarians. Prosecute, convict, incarderate, eliminate when necessary. Also ID those in government, LE.
